Huge ross lyon fan and always have been. The crap he cops is unjustified in the media. He was a joy to listen to in the media with his analytical mindset, and is very similar to chris scott in his pressers being very humble and respectful always to opposition clubs. He is not an arrogant flog like bevo or dimma.

Love the guy! Long live the boss ross.

Was shattered when we didnt pick him up as a coaching director before he got the saints job

Up the Saints! Walking out of AO winners made a refreshing change. Was also nice for my 7yo son to see his first saints win..

Harder at the ball all day. Won the clearances, nice use of hands in tight, and we have same dash. Held our nerve when the tide was against us. Plenty to like.

The only difference between Caminiti and Keeler would be work ethic in the gym, and you dont have to be a Sports Scientist to know that.
I very much doubt that every player is going to have the same gym workout routine. Unless St Kilda is amateur hour the physios will have a program for each player.

Then there is also starting point. What each player was like when they arrived at St Kilda. What injuries had to managed along the way. Individual psychological differences as each person is unique (From cardio capacity to type of twitch muscles etc).

Putting it simply you can't just say give two people the same routine and expect them to produce the same time to run say 100m, 3km, or bench press the same maximum weight.

Have a look at Gout Gout....does this skinny runner physically look like he is emerging as possibly the quickest sprinter ever?

The ending of the Ross Lyon press conference when he’s told that Collingwood and Carlton haven’t played the crows/power twice in a season in Adelaide since the ground upgrade was amusing.

Edit: as in travelled twice to Adelaide in the season

This has not been appreciated. Ross gave a full drive-by to the AFL in the last two minutes of the press conference. Emptied the magazine on them and reloaded without actually saying anything directly. Criticism of our 3 games in 6 weeks in SA and then lamenting the tiny ground next week when we could be playing at Glenelg instead, lamenting that we get shafted with multiple SA trips and Perth trips while the other clubs don't. It was beautiful stuff.

Is there any website that publishes a break-down of the goals kick? ie general play, mark, free kick.

Cant seem to find one. Recall they used to print the details in the local paper here along with the player stats etc, but I haven't bought one of those for years.

Just sneaking a watch of the last quarter. Wow that's a gutsy win. 99% of the time in the last ten years we would have lost that. Enemy territory, parochial crowd, very young team. Just super gutsy to hold on and then shut them out with the last two goals of the game. And the commentary....holy crap.
Right up until Sincs goal in the last it was all about Port. "Port just need this, Port just need that". "This is what they can do under Ken Hinkley, ratchet up the pressure until they get you.." Blah blah blah blah. After Sincs goal went through, one commentator called it going through. Another said, "wow wee that man". I timed it. This was followed by a full 25 seconds of complete silence. Nada.
Yep STFU you flogs.
Exactly. Complete silence after Sincs' goal. If I wasn't so invested at the time I would have laughed.
We didn't just desperately hold on to the bitter end, we wrested back the momentum and actually opened up some distance on them.

Going a bit further i dont actually think they were THAT bad.

JHF was unreal, Butters was good but rusty. Rozee got owned but hes susceptible to that.

Aliir was good as was Georgiadies and Lord.

I think theyre just a very good midfield that can be flaky and almost nothing else. We exploited that.

Port played some good footy. It gives the fact that we won even more substance.

To be fair Jones (and I'm a fan) should have got rid of it before the clothesline.

Disagree, you can take on the tackler. Just an absolute howler from the umpire. Jones will hold the ball while an option presents regularly. You should be protected from being taken around the neck. Even the fact that it must have been incorrect disposal called despite letting the spilled ball go all season is wrong. The tackle slipped straight off him.

Nothing worse than a media muppet who cant admit they maybe got something wrong.

And again he generates so much interaction from playing the bad cop. The stations love him because he throws flash grenades every where and the yokels all gasp in horror and run to see what he's doing next.

He's amusing but anyone taking anything he says seriously needs to calm down a bit.

Yes - absolute Masterclass!

Bottom 4 lol.
To be fair plenty had us there.
But that's a horrible take.

Yep, plenty of the "positive" posters got shitty whenever anyone suggested that we should be aiming for finals. Most of the board seemed to suggest that bottom 4 seemed about par.

Heath has not come on, is a slug and if we get TDK will be guaranteed to be delisted at years end.
Boyd is a much better option. We have Keeler and Dodson. Heath will make a good VFL ruckman.

Boyd is a better ruck. I think Moose could play as a spiller. His attitude looks a bit laid-back but he is frustratingly close. I reckon he could be a decent KPF spiller option just as a straighten us up type.

Any thoughts about NAS's jumper punch?
Just a fine surely?

As should wunderkind JHF get for his dramatic flair throwing back his head when tackled.

he other thing most "experts" seem to be totally missing is how wide open this years race is.

5th-14th is pretty ****ing flexible. If youre not bottom 4 youre a decent shot to make finals, were in that group so why not us?

I was doom and gloom with the pre season injuries and even i still thought we were a chance.

I think it bares mentioning that Keeler looked absolutely ****ing shot to pieces after the Geelong game. Id wager hes still not fully recovered, big kids usually struggle with backing up week to week.

No doubt when King is available hell be given a spell but hes doing a job right now.

If we have a major strength at the moment its adaptability. Byrnes goes for me, he tries his heart out but too many costly errors. Wood to regain his defensive wing position. Henry to take the high HF and Steele back probably for Hastie.

Pick your sub from whoever.

Byrnes isn't easy to cover with a kid. He's a work horse that does cover the kilometres. He's the obvious weaker link but also doesn't have many pushing for his spot. 5th highest AF score, equal 6th highest disposals, 5th in MG, equal 2nd in marks. He's not pretty but he is the mortar between the bricks that Lyon's sides always have.

I said Wood to basically cover his role so thats not a kid.

We dont need a like for like to come in for him, we need to move the magnets a bit.

If/when he can rid his game of the absolute howlers that stand out like dogs balls and often end in an oppo goal, he’ll be a lock.

Wonder what Mavefromdelburn thought of some of his efforts yesterday. The def 50, 25m kick to a 4 on 1 was my personal highlight 😂

It looks to be the most even and open race ever and the last 2 have been tight. Small margins, close wins and injuries future and scheduling will decide some fates.

We have put our name right up there in the peloton and are as good a bet as any of them. Adelaide, Hawks, Brisbane, GWS and maybe Pies are the ones that look most likely for top 4 but a few small slips ups and they are right back with the chasing pack. Sydney, Saints, Dogs, Suns, Cats etc all breathing down their necks. Eve Carlton will probably have a run at some point and take a few down on the way through. Banking wins now is a very handy break.

I still think that that's more that the players ahead of him weren't providing leads or options. He wasn't alone in those kicks to no-one. Caminiti was exposed by teammates. Certainly not all on him. Our defence is a patchwork blanket with holes everywhere but our midfield is stepping up and forwards are converting.

Bynes is a nuggety wingman asked to run end to end with the play. He's often in the play because of work rate. He gets canned for being in the vicinity when a lot of others didn't even get there. He looked like he was spending more time camped inside defensive 50 yesterday.

He hasn’t been prolific but he seems composed under pressure and uses it well. With a bit more strength his 1-1 defending will improve. He also needs to develop the confidence to take the game on more. In his draft footage he seemed a line breaking offensive weapon, but seems to playing within himself for the time being.
That smother, that was him right? I have barely heard anyone mention it, not even the commentators who refused to acknowledge us. Was it a smother even? That was almost game saving... did I imagine it? Dr Spaceman do your thing and make a gif! If it actually happened... am I seeing things?

It’s a pity that Macrae missed that goal off the ground. Would have been his first for us and lit 🔥 up the joint.
I didn’t realise that was Travs first, bit of a lacklustre celebration by his team mates.

Trav had about a dozen or more of his teammates get around him.
