Very good first half, poor second IMO. Need to give Nank a full game.

Taylor can come in for Murphy, his skill set is reasonably suited to playing a similar role to what Rach was.

Keane isn’t necessarily a weak link, he just shouldn’t be playing on the Larkey or King types. That problem is caused because we’re picking Borlase, who has almost no offensive game, but also can’t be trusted to play on the big boys. I don’t know what’s happening with Butts, because he had a fairly good year last year and can be trusted to match it with the number one forward. I’d also rather see Toby Murray over Borlase. We’ve seen enough to know Borlase isn’t up to it so why persist?
Which Geelong forward would Keane play against? Cameron? Shannon Neale?

I think Geelong's talls will cause us headaches, so we have to beat them in the midfield.

I think Geelong pressures the ball-carrier well, so if we panic and kick it long, the Geelong defenders will gobble it up.

I don't really watch any SANFL Crows, so I'll defer to the better judgement of those who do. If there's anyone better, bring them in.

Let's hope the afl come out with an apology on Monday.. it will mean lots of soft frees to us ... so kinda feel sorry for Geelong
My partner is a Geelong supporter, so you can feel sorry for me if they do that! I'd like to beat them comfortably on merit. He still whinges about umpire robbery in the 1997 semi-final. 🙄

They will most likely come out with a "our bad, mistakes were made", rather than an apology. And I don't think we'll get any soft frees... but with some luck, we won't get completely rooted again any time soon. That's probably all we can hope for.

What is the point of an apology. Game is done and dusted. You cannot change the result.

The point is to ensure there is some heat on the AFL, to avoid a repeat of this kind of situation in the future. Or, in the event that such a situation does occur again, to have the ability to put additional heat on them by setting the narrative now that the Crows have, once again, been screwed in a big match.

The fact that we have been on the receiving end of these kinds of mistakes (I'm being charitable and attributing it to incompetence) several times in the last few years alone, while people have to go back to 1991 to find a time we won a match from umpiring errors, indicates that left to their own devices, the AFL will routinely screw us. Regardless of whether it's deliberate or not, it's clear that they just don't care that much if we get disadvantaged. We need to ensure that they pay a price in negative PR when it happens, so that they make sure it doesn't happen again.

Yeah, everyone used to say that the likes of Collingwood were whingers back in the day, but you know the AFL would think long and hard before doing anything to them because they didn't want to deal with the fallout. They didn't want to deal with the likes of Eddie ranting on TV, etc. Whereas with the Crows, it's clear that they think "who cares if they cop a bad call? They're over there in Adelaide, it will be a storm in a teacup over there and they'll fill a stadium next week regardless."

Out:
Murphy
Milera
Sholl

In:
Taylor
Dowling
Crouch

Sub:
Draper or Dowling

Edit: perfectly fine with ROB being dropped too, but more than 3 changes won’t happen and I’m more focused on getting those other 3 out of the side this week.
I thought that Sholl had been playing reasonably well but not today. Calling for his dropping is a bit quick. Murphy and Borlase were both a liability

Being owned by the AFL doesnt make it easy to jump up and down but I certainly agree that we should be questioning the treatment we have to put up with.

I don't care if it's wing or half back, if Nankervis can't get a full game then I'm dumbfounded.

Surely his elite talent is obvious? Let's not waste another week with inferior players.

Elite talent? Hide him on a wing before putting him back. Good bit contest, in the air. Ball use, break lines - not so much. His kick to handball ratio is almost one to one, thats not a ball user. Plus his kicks are mostly bail out chips/down line. Don't have to win own ball, want handball receive player or two back who can run use it. Especially after Suns game if we going to start falling back into bad habits back half game (ie struggle). Yeah if you want argue Milera not gun fine, it's a list hole. Try Cumming back before Nankervis. Hinge needs some help.

As for the ball coming in back half ideally still short one genuine tall key back. Pity Butts is half a lockdown then nothing else, he's got a bit more height. Those arguing for him over Borlase splitting hairs, least big picture. As is, Keane and Murray are it, Worrell third man up - who could perhaps have a look bit more ball in hand when in bit time space coming out d50. Some those predictable bombs out is going some way to ensure it comes straight back.

Not all backs fault, poor bastards

With Crouch coming back and midfield depth, we may need to bite the bullet and play Rankine forward + his sore calf. We got beaten on the ground forward today, need some spark.

Butts for Borlase is a no brainer, especially with the size of Neale.

Nank well and truly proved he belongs and is an asset for us going forward. Into the team ahead of Sholl, who is out of his depth when it’s not a game with lots of space.

O’Brien and Murphy do nothing for us.

Borlase and Murphy for Butts and Crouch just about the easiest changes you could make. I didn’t hate Milera’s game like some but probably didn’t justify his spot as much as Nank.

In: Butts, Crouch, Taylor
Out: Borlase, Milera, Murphy

Draper to sub.
Milera was awful. Lazy and laconic.

Sholl has been invisible for two of the four weeks. First two he was good. Last two I didn’t even know he was playing.

Out
Nicks, Borlase, Murphy, Sholl, Laird, Milera

In
Nankervis, Pedlar, Edwards, Butts, Crouch?

Move Dawson and Cumming down back. Nankervis to a wing.

Michalanney Butts Worrell
Cumming Keane Dawson
Nankervis Soligo Hinge
Walker Fogarty ANB
Pedlar Thilthorpe Keays

ROB Peatling Rankine

Draper Edwards Curtin Crrouch?

Sub: Dowling

Michalanney on watch. Needs to lift his game or he's out.

I thought Milera played okay today. We don't have enough depth to replace all four with better alternatives.
At the game I thought Milera was actually pretty good. Look at his hands in tight very contested positions - watch the last 2 mins of the game to illustrate this - and I can’t see how he could be dropped after today. 2 good games and 2 underwhelming ones after coming back from another bad injury. I would keep him in

I'm willing to give Sholl a couple of weeks to turn it around after a poor fortnight, had been good late last year and the first two rounds.

Murphy was a predictably terrible selection that probably was the difference in a close game. Needs to be banished to the reserves.

Nank obviously needs a full game.

No chance RoB gets dropped despite the bath he got from Witts. His understudy being genuinely competent should be a worry for him now though.

Walker could do with a rest honestly with such a short break.

Crouch will come back in.

Borlase just isn't it. Give Butts a go.

Milera on thin ice.

Pick one of Pedlar/Dowling/Taylor. I'd go with Pedlar but don't mind really which one.

Out: Borlase, Murphy, Tex (Rested), Milera (Sub)
In: Butts, Pedlar, Crouch, Nank

Out: Murphy, Sholl, Borlase
In: Dowling, Crouch, Butts

Not sure why Milera is being thrown around? He was great yesterday. He was really clean, moved the ball well and didn't panic. Also that pressure on the GC player to turn the ball over for a goal from a kickout was top shelf.

Dowling or Nank to sub.

So there's already justification for the selection panel to put the "No Change" sign out. Played away in tough conditions, against an upcoming side and we should have pinched it.

That would be a typically shallow AFC view but.....

Nankervis for Milera - We gave Wayne time, and he's just not there. We know what Nank can do.

Taylor for Murphy - Should have been the case anyway. Might allow Rankine to play a bit more forward where we miss that spark. Not too much more mind you.

Borlase for Butts - id drop Keane but we won't. It's clear we need a stopper.

Crouch for Sholl - Last two weeks he's been off. Push Curtin to a wing and bring Crouch in.

Sub is either Draper or Sholl. Wanna keep the kid in, he's had a big impact late in games as the sub

My dream changes;
Crouch back in
McAndrew for Obrien - 20 odd disposals and 9 clearances when has the Professor done that recently
Nankervis for Milera puzzling selection from round 1
Murphy for Oakley my red Heeler more skilled {or Pedlar, Taylor}
Dowling for Sholl he goes missing and is in his fragile/weak phase
Bond Hugh Bond in at some point soon.

Adelaide changes
Draper to sub
Crouch in Nankervis omitted
