is retro round an official thing? you actually can't find an official write-up or anything about it. you can find references to the "Fox Footy Retro Round". I saw Melbourne's kit with the old AFL logo and thought that was cool, but it seems not every club is actually doing a retro guernsey. we are wearing our "retro" guernsey the week before retro round, which is meant to be Gather Round? where some clubs are wearing retro guernseys and some 'dark' guernseys? it's too hard to follow even if you want to

The talk I’ve seen “as captain you shouldn’t be meeting other clubs”

Well, the club he’s at is not willing to commit long term to him. So what choice does he have.

Maybe he should stand down in the meantime.

But if I were him, I’d be looking elsewhere also.

Garry Lyon is right, where is the fire from West Coast in response to this? This is a club on its knees and Hawthorn are trying to poach senior leaders from them in successive years. Come out and slam Hawthorn and Mitchell publicly. Come out and declare that you're very interested in talking to some out of contract Hawthorn players and will be making contact with their managers shortly. It's all just sit back and play nice these days. The entire industry is a giant boys club.

Because they know he is gone and they know they are going to be very well compensated. As it currently stands, they will be receiving pick 2 for Allen by way of free agency compo. Giving them the first two picks in the draft. At worst, they will be receiving pick 3. There is no way they aren't finishing bottom 2.
That massively fast tracks their rebuild, which by the time they are hitting their straps, Allen would be 30+.
