Quick turnaround this week, so maybe a few changes before what is our biggest H&A game for the year.

McLachlan is wasted as a sub, so with Kai due back I’d swap him out and put Bruce back to sub where he has more impact.

With Henry seemingly out of concussion protocols I wonder if they’d consider giving him a run for Day.

Hopefully Neale’s foot doesn’t blow up too much and he is right to get up too.

Even though today is International Sam Day Day, his position in the team has to come under review. I think we need to look at getting Darcy Fort back into the team. He is a better ruck option and more likely to help us out on the scoreboard.

I'm sure we'll stick with Sam for a few more games or until we lose a couple.

I'm not into knocking him because he's trying his best and there'll still be the argument that he's learning the system , getting fitter whatever.

I had similar thoughts, but watching him live last week and again today his athleticism is not at the level.

Beaten in the ruck, still without a goal despite considerable time forward. We know what we are getting from him. If Smith is fit he plays, if not Fort.

Hopefully Kai is back. To be finding as many avenues to goal without him is encouraging.

Finally, looking forward to seeing Jasper against the Pies. He has been fantastic since moving back - his marking for his size is a real feature, as well as his pace. I think he will cause them some real problems given their forward line isn’t overly tall or quick outside of Hill.

I don’t know why McKenna was dropped last week.
My preference: If Kai is fit, he comes in for McLaughlin, Bruce out and McKenna back in as sub.

Because he had been sub too many weeks in a row and needed to play a full game

He got dropped in a week when the reserves didn't have a game and has played 1 game in the 3 weeks he's been out of the side

I'm pretty sure Fagan said thats why he was dropped in the presser, but I stand corrected

I can understand why posters may want to replace Day with someone else.
But i think he is doing his job of not being out marked very often and okay in the relief ruck role.
Lions would want more from him going forward. Appears happy to pass it off rather than take a shot himself.

Our Rucks Yesterday

Oscar had 8 disposals, zero marks, 78 ruck contests, 43 hit outs with 9 to advantage 81% TOG
Day had 7 disposals, 6 marks, 24 ruck contests 10 hit outs with 4 to advantage 67% TOG the lowest bar Reville and McLachlan.

Good luck next week versus the Umpies lol.
You mean the same lot that paid advantage in a Grand Final that clearly wasn’t heard/actual advantage but not brought back?

Shocked to hear.

Because he is highly rated, seems to have done pretty well in reserves and we are in a bit of a luxury position starting 5-0 up against a bogey side. I'm also not sold on Reville and obviously Marshall is also a winger.

Better letting him take some responsibility in the 2s working on his weaknesses rather than get exposed at AFL level.

Not sure he’s a winger. Just because he’s fit and a reasonable kick doesn’t mean you can just slot him in on the wing at AFL level. Let him develop his contested game in the 2s

Also not worth tinkering with our average form at the moment despite our ladder position

I was thinking about him too tbh, could be a good game to debut as sub.

That said, my preference is McKenna this week.

Getting Reville out of the 22 could be a way to improve our team but probably the only options apart from Marshall, who seems to be playing more on ball than wing anyway, would be to bring in a defender and push Fletcher or Wilmot to the wing or a forward and give Bailey more time on the wing. So not an easy choice

Marshall 100% has capability to play on the wing.

McKenna can play HFF and HBF so has versatility as a sub. Certainly more than Shagga does.
