Tunstill plays well in the VFL but his 9 AFL games over 3 years have been very average with limited game time.
He is in his 4th year, turns 22 in July so it is hopeful he will have a better game than his previous ones.
OOC this year so maybe the club are giving him a chance to show if he can make it at this level.
Most likely he will be played out of position again so that won't help him.

2024: 4 games, 3 as sub one not even activated. Only full game being 11 disposals in our 37-63 loss to the Cats.
2023: 2 games, one being sub the other subbed off total of 12 disposals for the two games
2022: 3 full games, disposals 9,11,11 but that was his first year.

Not sure who gets the sub role out of Tunstill or Marshall.
A stronger body in Tunstill, playing out of position, against a very experienced Pies side.
Or a debut player in Marshall, most likely playing a wing relief role.

Nope. We play St Kilda next week.

And boy, lookout if the Ashcrofts, Fletcher & Marshall tear it up.

St Kilda is the most vocal publicly as no one listens to them behind closed doors.

Would be hilarious if Jimmy turns it out and becomes a bonafide AFL level player, only to go to the VFL and get traded to Adelaide.

I don't think we'd ever hear the end of it from Elixuh
Good thing no one of note has ever done that.

I mean Sydney got Bolton, but Adelaide? Nah.

Membrey out for them is big for us. He's a campaigner.

Elliot....basically, a less versatile Zorko with tatts.....wow-eeeee

04:55 of First Crack....Lions undefeated season mentioned....my words have market penetration.

Marshall is a rub-their-nose-in-it-son selection, and hence I love it.

Tunstill in is a big surprise. For mine he hasn’t looked anywhere near the level in any of his games, whether it be sub or not. In recent times he also hasn’t been beating the door down in the reserves. In fact, I have Dev easily ahead of him on exposed AFL form.

Like most I would have thought Fagan would have stuck with Bruce or McKenna, so it will be interesting to see how Tunstill and Marshall are both utilised.

Based purely on the years he has had on the list, and the talent coming through you’d think this will be one of Tunstill’s last opportunities to prove he belongs at the level (barring a huge injury list). For his sake (and our hopes of winning tomorrow), I hope he can make a fist of it but can see these selections causing a big stir tomorrow night should we be defeated.

At risk of sounding like a broken record, I’m also very surprised Day got a game when Smith was available. I believe we had an opportunity to expose McStay’s lack of height as second ruck, but for some reason opted not to. I love the loyalty Fagan shows in players, but hope he has learnt from the Gunston (and to a lesser extent Lyons) selections where he persisted for too long when they weren’t performing and were clearly physically not up to the level any longer. That being the case this has to be Day’s last crack at it before experimenting with other options should he be beaten again.

Overall, one of the more interesting selection nights I can recall for a while. I guess when you’re the reigning premiers you get some credits in the bank, and some leeway to try a few things.

Go Lions.
