So Eagles want Yeo and Boots. How bout a 3 way trade:

Carlton
Give - Bootsma, Pick 12, Pick 28
Get - Docherty, Pick 6, Rosa
Brisbane
Give - Docherty, Yeo
Get - Pick 28, Pick 29
West Coast
Give - Pick 24, Pick 6, Rosa
Get - Bootsma, Yeo, Pick 12

Would work out amazing for us and well for Brisbane and West Coast get their men whilst staying in the first round.

Took a while to work out the logistics but this could work for all parties.

It's effectively:

Carlton
Docherty for 28
Bootsma for Rosa and 1st round pick upgrade (12 to 6)

Brisbane
Docherty and Yeo for consecutive 2nd rounders

West Coast
Yeo for 24
Bootsma for Rosa and a pick downgrade (6 to 12)

Boom time for all parties - esp. us who come away with Doc, Rosa and Pick 6.

Don't think that is going to happen. Not surprisingly as it is written up by a Carlton supporter, but Carlton heavily wins.

I can only post my thoughts like everyone else.

If Bootsma needs to be traded, then the club erred in signing him for two years. I don't think that is the case given Lucas played 17 games, yet still appears to be uncontracted.

I don't see WC or Freo trying to trade for Bootsma with Yeo uncontracted. There's a more easily obtained WA player available. Richmond traded for Hampson because there aren't any rucks available.

WC won't deal McInnes. If the positions were reversed, Carlton wouldn't be offering McInnes to get Schofield or Ashley Smith.

Thanks Dad...

I haven't seen and read anything that suggests Boostma needs a kick up the arse.

I've read 11 pages bashing Hampson and posts criticising Temay before they even played a game.

I was wrong.

They lost their marbles seven years ago.

After reports that Gumby has passed a rigorous medical assessment at Freo, does anyone think that we should be pushing hard for him.

Super talented player who dominated at CHF as a 17 y.o for WA at the champs. Shown real glimpses at Essendon - kicks well and runs to the right spots. Gumby is a much more realistic solution to our KPF problem, he is both age appropriate and is a quality individual.

Really hoping Carlton get their act together and make a real play for him.

he passed a fitness test at the shockers... he failed a comprehensive physical at Carlton last year.

I wonder if we put him through the red room to get an idea of how much physio we would have had to put him through if we had taken him last year?

I can respond to something I disagree with and think is nuts. Personal attacks are an ugly look. Yet some of the criticisms levelled at the club about our recruiting and list management are just as cringe worthy and infantile. We laugh at such things that the papers print under the guise of journalism and news. I'm not going to go with the flow if I beg to differ.

Looking at some fringe Eagles players who might be a good fit for us, Scott Lycett young ruckmen starved of opportunities, Hutchings looked to be solid midfielder when given a go, but was still in and out of the side. Both would be a decent outcome in a swap with Bootsma.

They wont let Lycett go anywhere with Cox in his last year or two....and if he was to go anywhere, odds would be on SA.

Can't see how we could come out of a bootsma trade in a better position. Reality is he has no trade value to anyone; that's not to say he won't be a good player, but has done nothing that has him standing out from other 190cm half backs.

The guy didnt go through the normal pathway to afl; I would imagine it is going to take him a bit longer to find any type of consistency. Happy to see how next two years go and then either write him off or revel in the glory.

Boots should be shopped at the end of NEXT year if he doesn't show enough growth (physically and footy-wise).

If he stays, Mick will play him. We will see how he goes and he may even have more trade currency after 2014. Just too early to cut him away for me.

We keep him another year or two, we wouldn't want to trade him

carlton calling bootsma a required player if no trade happens makes it sound like bootsma is the one looking to move.
That's kinda how I read it. That or WCE have enquired, and Bootsma hasn't balked at the idea.
I'd be happy to keep him TBH, unless it was a trade for Jack Darling ;-p

Beats me with Bootsma.....is it because we have plenty of defenders and he's surplus....why would we trade what was a first round draft pick...we won't get value unless it's for a key position player....

Hey guys, been reading this forum for a while now and finally got the urge to create an account. Not sure if i'm putting this in the right section as I am still getting used to this but as it relates to a change in our list I feel this is the right place.

Many people have already brought up the possibility of Heath retiring but what about Jarrad? I'm sure i'm probably reading to far into this but as some of you will know the club has been uploading videos of many of our players highlights over the season on youtube. They have already compiled videos of our main 22 and also some fringe players but no video of Waite has yet to be seen which is odd considering he has done some remarkable things this year while on the park. It just doesn't feel right seeing highlights of Collins who has spent the entire year in the reserves over Waite.

Could he have alerted the club of his thoughts and maybe they are saving a large highlight package when his retirement is announced? Obviously the same applies for Scotland as well. As I said before i'm probably reading into this too much but just my thoughts. Would obviously be happy if I was wrong as he is a great player and offers a lot to our team.

Those highlight packages have just been going through the list in number order, ie. Rowe is next. Welcome to the board.

Essendon is well placed to land Paul Chapman, with the delisted Geelong star seeking the security of a guaranteed two-year contract and his other suitor, Carlton, baulking at his contract terms.

Lion Sam Docherty will get to the Blues, with the clubs haggling over which draft pick Carlton will need to hand over for the young defender. The Lions want pick 28, with the Blues preferring to stay one spot ahead in the draft order and give them No.29. West Coast has some interest in contracted Blue Josh Bootsma, who is only interested in leaving if he gets to move home to Perth.

They sound like children when it's written that they want pick 28 but we will only give 29.
