Oscar's not doing anything but focussing on football. He is in a form slump and getting double tagged without Waterman there. His manager is simply doing his business behind the scenes. The club and players are unfazed citing that's the nature of free agency/trade. They know what type of person and leader he is around the club. Nothing's changed. All the outside noise is footy media driven and click-bait and hysterical fans frothing at every new headline. (at least it's a break from Harley?)

To say it's evenly split might be an understatement. Think it reflects where he is at at the moment trying to balance how good he is, his health, and where we are as a club.

So, this has changed dramatically since November when it was fairly even, now it's a landslide.....

Interesting you mention that. I left my last three jobs, kind of dreading to go to work. Knowing that I had other better opportunities , I gave a minimal effort in the job that I was leaving. I didn’t dislike my team or the company but my mind was on my next opportunity. Sure we all want to leave on ‘ good terms’ but sometimes the motivation isnt fully there.

I believe this is all dependent upon the individual. Each individual reacts differently.

I believe Oscars mind is now how he will fit in with what plans he has for 2026- it would be rude not to. It’s a bit like going to uni, your mind thinks about what plans you have after graduation. Some will give a weak effort and aim just for a pass, some will want to do well and aim for a high distinction. It’s all dependent upon the individual and one can’t really measure that.
in Oscar's case, it is round four and he still has to earn a contract, regardless of who that is with,

For what it’s worth, expect a presser tomorrow for OA to face the music.

based on?

Just trust me bby

Oscar Allen and John Worsfold will address the media at 10am. Allen will remain as
@WestCoastEagles
Co-Captain - this presser is to own the situation.

Should have trusted me bby x

Can't have the captain shopping himself around. He needs to stand down.
What is he supposed to do? Wait until the end of the season for West Coast to offer him the same as other clubs?

That's what managers are for. Pretty simple.
All the manager does is handles the opportunities and negotiations. Oscar still has to weigh up the options himself seeing as it affects his life and employment. Same goes for every player.

Good that they are addressing it. The big question I have is whether he offered to stand down and the club/players said no - which I think would make the whole situation look a lot better from both his and the club's perspective. Don't mind giving him the chance at redemption if that's a part of it.

It does. But he doesn't need to do it in public. It's a poor effort by Oscar and piss poor response from the Eagles. Roll over and show thier bellies.

Wouldn't OAs manager have organised this?

WCE have been a cash cow for so long and the whole thing is stale.

Can you blame the better players for looking at joining a winning team?

How long can you put up with the loses, year in year out. It would get depressing. A footballer has so many years in the game and God forbid he would want to enjoy his footy a bit.

This is all the eagles fault for years and years of mediocrity.

You know this how?

A lot of Ex players have come out said some of his team mates would be filthy.

This is what free agency has created and I don't think you can blame any player for looking out for themselves. Equally, clubs need to look out for themself too, and I wouldn't be overpaying for Oscar given where our list is at and his injury issues. Make a fair offer for us (and I wouldn't go beyond 4 years, maybe a 5th with game triggers), and it will no doubt be unders to what other teams will offer, and the choice is his. I would prefer to get the compensation and move on, given we have cover and where our team is at but I had a different view last year.

In fairness to Oscar, he really may have no intention of leaving and was simply doing his due diligence or meeting someone he knows, out of politeness. I have taken many informal meets from other firms where they have gauged my interest in moving to them (when I have had no interest at all). It is about keeping relations. He may also be aware that he has a finite time at the top level and he needs to maximise what he can earn and others are offering way more than WC, so he needs to hear them out.

The issue is the ham-fisted way in which this played out, given he is the captain, his form and where we are at in the season. As the captain, he (and those around him), must have known this was a bad look and would be destabalising for the team he is supposed to be leading if it became known. Given this, they should have been far more circumspect with how they handled any discussions, and given Mitchell and Oscar know each other well enough, I am not really sure why a face to face was needed this early in the season and surely discussions online/phone/through managers would have been wiser.

Whilst I think people are being overly emotive given the AFL landscape now days and given we do exactly the same thing with players from other clubs, Oscar needs to own this mess now and it is a really bad look for a captain to be caught in such a meeting given where we are at and given his form.

I'm sure it'll be a nothing burger but at least they're publicly addressing it.

The club's been in such a 'We're just happy to be here' phase since the Premiership I have no idea what's gonna snap them out of it.

West Coast can always be trusted to do the right thing, once all other possibilities have been exhausted.
