You're missing the point.

Whatever he did, it should've been done online or through his manager.

I don't think anyone has said he shouldn't be allowed to explore his options
100% and if still unsure maybe have the in person meeting in the bye round or later in the year. Not after round 3 after you didn’t get a kick. (Which he would’ve already had this meeting scheduled pregame) Was his heart in the game ect?

Oscar Allen and John Worsfold will address the media at 10am. Allen will remain as
@WestCoastEagles
Co-Captain - this presser is to own the situation.
Smart move.
Has Woosh riding shotgun.

Be interesting if there will be any hard questions asked or will guys like Adrian Barich ask him what his favourite colour is.

Wouldn't OAs manager have organised this?

WCE have been a cash cow for so long and the whole thing is stale.

Can you blame the better players for looking at joining a winning team?

How long can you put up with the loses, year in year out. It would get depressing. A footballer has so many years in the game and God forbid he would want to enjoy his footy a bit.

This is all the eagles fault for years and years of mediocrity.
It's the TB situation. Player wants to stay with the club. Club isn't willing to offer a contract on favourable terms. Player can get a better deal elsewhere.

The wins and losses only matter when said player decides to prioritise financial security over loyalty.

Oscar is just going to say he was catching up with a friend and mentor, they did not talk about next year.

He will say that he’s leaving contract talk to his manager and is just focused on playing his best football to help us win.

How much you want to believe all that is up to you.

We'll net you pick 3. You'll be thanking us.

I don’t think too many people find this an issue. It’s not hawks netting us pick 3, wherever he goes it will be pick 3.

Issue is that this has driven home that we have weak player leadership which is issue at hand. It was obvious when baker and graham became part of leadership group and they barely spent time at the club. But this confirmed it. And it hurts.

I'm not missing any point. Many of the comments have been about Oscar exploring his options rather than the way he and his manager have gone about it.

Transcript of Oscar's statement for those who missed the presser;

“The reason for my absence today meeting Sam Mitchell was due to doctor’s orders. My club has been provided with a medical certificate. I have been diagnosed with suffering from a work-related injury and as a result I am on sick leave until further notice. I will not go into any details as to my medical condition as I wish to keep that strictly private. I am doing my best to work with the club and my doctors so I can recover from my injury. I intend to return back to training captaining as soon as I am fit and able.”

In defence of Pyke, he probably feels he can't say too much without being called a hypocrite given his round of golf with Warner.

And also, it is possibly the case that the club want Allen to go (if he is going to be on a very big and fat contract) and very happy for Mitchell to be meeting with Allen.

One notable thing i saw was that Josh Battle went to Hawthorn for less money than St Kilda were offering him. I have a feeling it will be the same with Allen. Mitchell and Hawthorn might not offer him any better of a contract than we have offered him but try and sell him on being in a winning team. It is hard to see how Hawthorn could make a big money offer. That would be the one fly in the ointment for us. We need his new contract to be big enough to trigger Band 1.

Already in Hawks colours, but actually seems quite upset about the whole situation. Wants to play at West Coast so has publicly put it back in Eagles court to come up with agreeable terms.
