No. He was hunting the ball and then braced for contact when Libba moved into his way. The right call was made IMO.

As I see it, the problem is that they will shoe horn this into the elected to bump vs elected not to bump false dichotomy.

It is the action to contest the ball that is the issue. It ridiculous to then characterise it as electing to bump because that suggests an aggressive positive action when what is actually happening is that smart players are protecting themselves.

Either the game tells players that they are expected to bail out, which would be a disaster, or we can accept that this isn't playstation and we can't pause mid action and stop handing out dumb penalties that don't change the behaviour in issue.

I agree with your earlier call, he looks very lost out there.
Had some better moments in second half but still has the tips in front of goal. Is a better defender, I’m surprised they’re playing him forward, especially given their key defensive woes.

I know they are trying to make him a forward but still.

why does the commentary team always seem like they're slumped on the couch in their pyjama's, arms at their sides, casually analysing the game.

One thing certain, if he was still with us Scott would be playing him as a defender.

He is not, and will never be, a forward.

The interesting thing about the cats is that they haven't given themselves that post premiership piss take at the start of the next season. That run of games when they play with supreme confidence and become something different.

If the last 3 weeks has done anything it has given them that run. I don't know how that form holds up, or who it needs to hold up against, but they're a premier that feels good about themselves now.

They're the equivalent of Melbourne at r7 last year now.

Game's been over since quarter time. Not much for the commentators to say.
I always like the "Lol at the commentators pretending team X is a chance here."

Yeah... how dare they want the game to be interesting.

The AFL rules in relation to these head knocks is like regulation of the building industry.

The rules don't actually do anything to prevent the knocks, just as you're no more likely to get a well built building, but there will be punishment / we can work out who is liable.

The coaches have been dishonest here. Buckley has given a pretty good insight into the issue. Players are trained to exploit the other aspect of their training (tackling) and the whistle, taking advantage of too much time before the whistle is blown.
The fact is the coaches are the initial cause to pretty much every issue as far as rules go. Looking for an edge or advantage. As far as the tackle goes and holding the ball you have coaches training players to wrap both arms so they can not get the ball away then bringing players to ground which then evolved into the sling action as they started using grappling methods at training. Coaches also responsible for the dragging the ball in free kick by instructing players on the ground to reach out and drag the footy in to create a stoppage which has now morphed into the ridiculous situation where at times you get penalized for attacking the footy and trying to make the play.
