first round according to cal poomey

think we're most likely pick 4-5 or something in the second round

players that us nuffies have spoken about that aren't listed on this phantom are:

  • archer reid
  • moir
  • collard
  • cooper simpson
  • george stevens
  • angus hastie
  • ??? idk who else
  • and finally the player no one has heard of before (the player we're going to draft)
He has Moir going 29 to Blues and Collard going 30 to Eagles.

Potentially if Collard is still on the board in the mid 20s. He's the one we've been linked to most in the media.
Someone mentioned potential home sickness with this kid, not sure if rumor or fact, but he is exactly what we need.

He got homesick during the national championships.

Someone on the West Coast board said that the late mail is that Richmond is trying to move up the board to take a player named Charlie Edwards.

Would that be a nice get for Richmond? I haven’t followed this year’s draft much, so I don’t know. Also, is that a long shot to occur if it is a good get?

If we stay where we are the 6 players I'm most keen on bringing to Richmond are:

First pick:
Archer Reid 203cm 94kg KPF Gippsland Power
George Stevens 189cm 101kg Midfielder GWV Rebels
Ashton Moir 187cm 85kg Forward Glenelg

Second Pick:
Clay Hall 189cm 87kg Midfielder Peel Thunder
Joel Freijah 190cm 88kg Midfielder GWV Rebels
Kane McAuliffe 187cm 86kg Midfielder North Adelaide

Reads very well and at 191cms is a great size.

STRENGTHS:

  • Clean hands
  • Kicking
  • Running capacity
  • Upside

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Consistency
  • Exposure

Arguably the biggest AFL Draft bolter in 2023, Charlie Edwards has come a long way in a short space of time. He only received a State Draft Combine invite, but is in line to be the first taken from that group of prospects. A potential second round selection, Edwards boasts a pair of clean hands, nice burst speed and a skillset to match.

His upside is evident in his rate of development thus far, and for a player not on the radar early, he is certainly on a lot of clubs’ lips now. Edwards was so highly touted at year's end, clubs suggested they wanted to see him elevated to the National Draft Combine.

He does still have areas to work on such as his consistency and exposure at that elite junior level - having not played for Vic Metro - but his body of work with Sandringham Dragons is rock solid. His athletic testing was perhaps an indicator of that factor, but not indicative of his explosiveness as a big-bodied midfielder. He did fare well in the 2km time trial however, with a time of 6:24.

Twomey has him going to Crows at pick 19.

Charlie Edwards

POS: Midfielder
Ht 191cm, Wt 85kg, DOB 18/5/05
From Sandringham Dragons

This is another stage of the draft where things start to get even murkier. Adelaide is among the clubs who have shown strong interest in Edwards, a late-season bolter up the board after missing out on selection for Vic Metro at the under-18 championships. But his form as a bigger-bodied midfielder took the eye late in Sandringham's season, where he played in the Dragons' premiership. Ran the 2km time trial in 6:24 minutes and has captured plenty of attention as a potential pick in the teens.
