I've always thought he does the controversial selections on purpose just to create discussion. If everyone agreed, everyone would move on pretty quickly.

Probably right, he would balance on the fine line between creating interest/debate and losing all credability. I'm personally questioning a lot of his choices so far, seems to have gone more controversial then normal.

That wasn't lids' best game, not even close. If we're going to pick random weeks where Watson performs better than Deledio then of course your boy is going to look better. What a weak argument.

I was talking about Watsons best game ever was that round, you can pick any game from any time for lids.

I just don't get why he feels compelled to do what surely must be deliberately leaving guys out. Surely naming who he thinks the best 50 is will provide enough controversy anyway.

Unless he really believes Watson isn't in the best 50 of the comp and Luke Ball is better than him.

Browns first half was very good.

Chris Judd probably deserves 10 to 15th. The AA selectors couldn't find a spot for him in the starting 18

Yeah, of course you are right.

Judd - 3rd in the league for clearances (despite missing first three games)
and
7th in the league for hard ball gets/contested possessions (despite missing first three games)

yeah, you are right... i would have Judd at about a ranking of 20-50.

Just not up to it

(leave space for rolling eyes/sarcasm here).........................

I'd have Judd 10-15, not that I doubt he's a great player, I just think there are 9-14 players better than him this year.

Geez. I just stated I think there have been 10 to 15 players better than Judd this year as far as impacting games go. I don't doubt Judds ability as a footballer and he will be rightfully ranked as a modern day and probably all time great when he calls curtains. I just think there have better players this year

Perhaps. I just don't think Sheehan rates Jobe at all. If Mitchell was 38 then I think Watosn should be somewhere around there, maybe a touch higher like around 30ish based on performace this season. I don't think he has as good a season as any of the guys mentioned below though but still should have been included somewhere in the list

Chris Judd
Dane Swan
Scott Pendlebury
Alan Didak
Aaron Sandilands
Gary Ablett
Jimmy Bartel
Joel Selwood
James Kelly
Paul Chapman
Corey Enright
Lance Franklin
Luke Hodge
Jack Riewoldt
Brendon Goddard
Lenny Hayes
Leigh Montanga
Daniel Cross
Brian Lake

Will be pretty close to his Top 20

Mike Sheahan is a deranged old **** who knows nothing about football.

On the odd occasion I watch 'On the Couch', the amount of times he changes his opinion on a specific side is astounding.

EG.

Week 1 : Dogs beat a side by a small margin. Sheahan goes on about how the Bulldogs dont have a strong list and how their chance at success has passed them by.

Week 2 : Bulldogs demolish the opposition, and all of a sudden Mike is back on the bandwagon and claiming that they have a great chance of the flag.

Seriously, this old **** is an absolute flog.

Watson and Riewoldt not in the top fifty? U****ingmad?

Should be locks for the top 20:

Judd
Thomas
Swan
Didak
Pendlebury
Sandilands
Chapman
Selwood
Ablett
Hodge
Franklin
Riewoldt
Hayes
Goddard
Montagna
Lake

4 spots left for:
Enright
Cross
Mundy
Bartel
Kelly
Cooney

I'd say Cross will miss. Then one of the Geelong players, probably Bartel.

I might have forgotten someone.

Where is Brad Green? Had a fantastic season, better than lots named on that list. I'll be damned if he wasnt in the top 50 players in the league this year. Shows how under-rated he is still.

I think Green will make it, deserves to be on AG's list instead of Bartel. Agree with everyone else on there though pretty much.

Watson should be on there as well, but people have said Sheahan has already ruled him out. That's easily his worst call, not sure what he is thinking there.

So Green, Enright, Mundy and Cooney to make up the remaining spots IMO. Kelly and Cross a bit unlucky.

Why do we even care about Mike Sheehan's Top 50. Why are we treating it like it's some official list ? It's just his opinion and so only as worthwhile as how highly you value his opinion and I don't. On anything.

Griffen won our best and fairest, yet people like Harry O'brien, Deledio, Brady Rawlings:eek: and Richard Douglas:eek::eek: are rated higher?

And saying J.Reiwoldt will be in his top 20, why is Barry Hall at 41? Didnt Reiwoldt only kick like 5 more goals than him in the H&A? Plus Hall played finals.

Jamar should be a lot better placed, he was AA for god sake.
Richard Douglas and Brady Rawlings just astound me though. Rawlings is higher than Pavlich!

Crazy Sheahan.

This :thumbsu:
Along with Caroline Wilson's opinion...
