Mike Sheahans End Of Season Top 50 Players

I agree.

Should have taken Swans position at number 2, easily the most in effective 30+ possession gatherer I've ever seen.

Agree actually. Ablett, Goddard, Hodge, Swan. Probably biased but I'd have Pendlebury closer to top 5 as well.

Those 30+ he had in the prelim were pretty effective at embarassing his Geelong opponents.

What sort of effectiveness wer you looking for?
What, when his teammates did all the work to win that game?

Just like both the grand finals. Racked up the stats when Collingwood had all the momentum, yet went missing when St.Kilda had the game on their terms. Has always been a down hill skier.

Sandilands outside of top 10 is a joke. The most influential player this year besides Swan.

Selwood should be out further, and not ahead of Hayes.

Jobe Watson needed a gig, and Barry Hall at 48 with Riewoldt at 10 is baffling.

He never played on any teams gun forward. He played on the duds. I could get less than 10 goals kicked on me by the duds.
Brian Lake is the best defender. Liar.

Lake is a fraud. Only reason he was the AA full back was because Scarlett missed about 6 games through injury. It's all well and good racking up 40 touches from full back while zoning off a 21yo forward in his 2nd year. We all saw how crap Lake really was in Round 20, when he had about 6-7 goals kicked on him in a half. Pods absolutely slaughtered him that night. So much so, they had to move Lake forward to save him from further embarrassment.

I've done a top 50 throughout the year on the Lists Board but I've changed it a bit to take finals into consideration. Not that much though.

Obviously there will be iffy selections on my list but that would be the same for everyone. Sheahan makes an effort so I like reading the list each year but I wish he'd just be honest rather than controversial for the sake of it. Rawlings is the one I haven't rated as highly as others but he could easily slot in one of the last few spots.

Better than his, that's for sure. :thumbsu:

Bit like Gary the deserter on Prelim final night.

If this is based on 2010 then Swan should have been No.1 - took them to a premiership but of course we have to stack the list with cats players for their final hurrah!

And to all you losers bagging Thomas at No. 9 - next year you may want to watch a few more games of footy and take off the Collingwood hater glasses. The bloke had a phenomenal season and this is thoroughly deserved.

You should give yourself a card for that.

Even if he didnt think Jobe was in his top 50 his justification on leaving him out was ridiculous.
Saying Watson, one of the best centre square players in the game didn't have as many score assists as three richmond small forwards in King, Collins and Nason.
He neglected to mention anything about Watson's contested possesions, first possesions and clearances.

Averages per game.
Jobe 5th in league for Contested footy
Equal 3rd in first possesion
Equal 8th in clearances
56th for turnovers (yet 14th in disposals)
#1 for playmaker (Its from pro stats I dont know what that is)[/quote]
It means starting the chain of possessions which leads to a goal. Which makes a mockery of Sheahans assertion that Watson doesn't have an influence of the scoreboard.

This is probably the single worst post in this whole thread

This post struggles in more ways than one. Bad luck bud:thumbsdown:

If us normal folk can't troll, than neither can you, it's only fair. I mean fair go buddy, Lake is a superstar and is clearly one of the best defenders in the league. A worthy AA player.

that ellis kid we picked up looks pretty bad right now sandwiched between 2 top 10 players in afl hehe

and yeh is cyril still, not so overrated, but ppl say hes no good... he made the top 50, is he a good player yet?

Does anyone else here actually watch every game every round?

Does anyone in the media actually watch every game every round?

I really cannot believe that there would be a yes from anyone.

There have been many comments about Jobe Watson's omission, but apart from one Port supporter, no-one else has even mentioned Travis Boak.

If you do not believe he should be in the list, go back and watch the games again.

Absolutely incredible.
