Nah, Guardians 2 is set almost directly after the first movie, definitely precedes AOU in the timeline.

Watched a bit of Winter Soldier this morning. Man, what a movie! Something about it.....when Bucky and mates battled Cap, BW and Falc it was tense. Really tense. It took me back to when i first saw it, the revelation to Cap that WS is Bucky. Even though I/we know/knew it was him, the feelings were portrayed by Evans perfectly upon realisation.

I noted at the time that Buckys mates are idiots. When Cap had his shield up they kept firing AT the shield. Not sure if discussed before but perhaps the design of the shield encourages enemies to shoot at it, like a target.

maybe its one of the many many properties of vibranium, attracts bullets

Now viewing Age of Ultron.

The first dream sequence courtesy of wandas trickery on Stark is interesting in hindsight. Everyone is dead, and Cap says you couldve done more or something like that.

With what we've seen in I.W, it was a nice easter egg/clue to I.W and Thanos?

My attempt to both rank and group them.

1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
2. Avengers: Infinity War

*I have still only scene Infinity War once so will need to view it again to confirm this ranking.

Notable changes:

- The Avengers slides down a bit as it felt quite dated this time around. The banter is still top notch, everything else was a bit eh.
- Homecoming straight into the excellent tier, was a fantastic movie.
- Found Black Panther overrated but still good.
- My appreciation for Doctor Strange and Ant Man has increased.

Where's the first Captain America?

Obviously all opinions are subjective, but I can’t see how Age of Ultron was poor. For mine it’s at very least a ok, if not good. It’s certainly better than Thor: Dark World and The Incredible Hulk. I feel it’s become fashionable to diss on it.
Agree, my guess people dislike it because it's only a filler film. I loved the part where they all were trying to lift Thor's hammer, hilarious.

The banter was spot on but I really just couldn't get into. The action scenes were just noise for me, particularly that whole final battle, and the villain was utterly boring (or perhaps just woefully underutilised?). None of the characters had arcs that I cared for either. Especially Thor's bizarre little side story that they shoehorned in.

I legitimately found it to be a mess of a movie at the time and then found it was only worse on repeat viewings.

Better than Hulk? Yes. Better than Dark World? Eh, it's about neck and neck for me. Dark World's visual design probably nudges it ahead but they're both meh level movies.

I'm going through the Marvel films for the first time. I'm using a list that I found online that I think makes decent sense.

So far, I've ranked them in the following order:

The Avengers
Iron Man
Captain America: The First Avenger
Iron Man 2
The Incredible Hulk
Thor

Some general musings:
  • The Avengers was fantastic. Set up well with the standalone movies, it just came together well.
  • Iron Man the best stand alone flick. Probably the best origin movie I've seen. RDJ is perfect for the role.
  • Captain America was pleasantly surprising. Was expecting to find him the boring hero of the lot but really enjoyed that.
  • The Incredible Hulk wasn't as bad as I'd heard. While not the best, I actually found it entertaining for the most part.
  • Thor was easily the one I liked the least. Which is a shame - I think it's cast well but just found that whole movie a mess.
Iron Man 3 up next. Have heard some average things about that one. I am trying to go into all these movies with an open mind though.

I am watching ultron now.

I liked the opening scene and the final battle where the robots are trying to get to the machine thing that the good guys are protecting.

I found ultron infuriating, and the shape of his head just weird.

Thors vision of the future is telling now.

thor dark world should be in the top 5. Approaching most underrated super hero movie of all time.

this is a pretty good list. only changes i would make is have infinity war first, civil war second, move thor dark world to fifth (shift all below down one), swap the first captain america with the avengers 1 and move guardians of the galaxy 2 above ant man. I agree black panther is horribly overrated. I really struggled to finish it i was so bored. iron man 2 and 3 also quite average.

Infinity wars is probably the most realistic of all superheroes movies.

Theres a writer in there that is very very aware and emphatic. Probably seen as batshit crazy by others.
