They essentially did in No Time to Die.
I mean... they had to reinvent it to some extent, given that they (stupidly) killed him off in the last movie."Producer Barbara Broccoli has confirmed a ‘reinvention’ is underway"
I will give them a chance but this quote doesn't fill me with too much confidence

Fallout is based off games, so there's a lot more latitude between the source material and an adaptation. Amazon have had two popular IP's - Rings of Power (Tolkien) and Wheel of Time and shitted all over both. The latter even more so than Rings of Power, as they had rights to all the books and still decided 'Pfft, source material, who needs to care about that?'.I don't mind Rings of Power but understand why it's not universally loved. That being said, same mob put out Fallout which was universally loved by fans of the franchise.
Amazon haven't gone full blown Disney with their existing IP either, so it's been odd reading that criticism online.
Additionally, EON has already got a history of legal issues over IP rights, better it's sorted now than when they're near the end.
EON also oversaw the last series of films that had an overarching storyline that weren't universally loved, and concluded it with a really poor final outing.
I love the Bond franchise, one of my top 5 franchises, but I think people look through the history of it with rose coloured glasses.
Not saying it's a guaranteed success or anything, but some of the doomish predictions are odd IMO.

Studio's can't help themselves with most franchises it seems. The only decent adaptation in recent years, where the main hero was male that wasn't wrecked is Dune. I'd be all in on some spin-off OO<x>'s where they are more diverse than an upper-class British male. There's some great potential stories there. 007 / Bond himself shouldn't be changed though. Odds are this is going to suck.
The Expanse?
The Expanse is the example that gives me hope Amazon won't stuff this up. Bezos loves the Bond movies and he loved The Expanse book series to the point he saved the TV show and it was awesome. Hoping his love for Bond means it doesn't stray from what it always has been.
I think they're smart enough to know that if they go completely woke and cast a woman, they're ****ed. I'll back them in to do Bond justice.
It had a female 007 - but not a female Bond. There is a difference, and what they did was not unreasonable.Yeah. I totally get the negative response to Rings of Power and Wheel of Time. But it's not enough to convince me there is going to be wholesale changes that will alienate a majority of the Bond fandom.
The same people praising the Brocolis as well forget the last movie had a female OO7. So the gender complaint is a bit hollow for mine as well. And Amazon haven't really flogged their IP to Star Wars/Marvel levels yet. So that complaint doesn't ring true either.
I still want and expect a Bond that isn't overly different from what we've already got.
Bond/OO7 - movies
Agents/villains - TV
That's what I expect we'll be getting.
You mean... like the original (and spectacularly awful) Casino Royale, where literally everyone is Bond?imagine they reboot with a cat-and-mouse dual storyline that is very sparse on details and keeps you guessing who actually is Bond until the final scene, maybe with some undercover ruse to keep you guessing. Maybe after one kills the other they get back to an office after hours or safe house and there is a revealing surprise party waiting for them with M, Moneypenny, etc.
actors of similar age such as Jack Lowden v Damson Idris
no that was a spoof, two is not everyoneYou mean... like the original (and spectacularly awful) Casino Royale, where literally everyone is Bond?
You only die thrice Mr Bond.New production company might allow them to erase No Time To Die and pretend that Bond didn't die.
No to Henry. They could have had Nolan direct it but prob didnt want him to give him the creative control he would demand or he didnt want to for some reason but he is a fan of the franchise.
And FFS just cast Henry Cavill already.
No to Henry.
Might as well get the Rock or Arnie to play him.
At least Henry's British.. and only 41.No to Henry.

I guess that they could slim him down. He just looks too big!At least Henry's British.. and only 41.

+1 million. He's the type of guy who's probably still going to be super fit and healthy well into his 50s as well.
It's understandable, as people's first thoughts are to go to Man of Steel but using Mission Impossible as a reference with modest wardrobe choices and next to Tom Cruise of all people, he looks fine and not too big at all.

Also watch Man from Uncle he is basically Bond in that. Good movie too
Cruise will be standing on a crate with high heels on. He's 5'7". Cavill's 6'1".+1 million. He's the type of guy who's probably still going to be super fit and healthy well into his 50s as well.
