I love horny but butters is our best right now. Arguably been the best player in the comp over the last couple years. Strange that he is becoming underrated on here.

Butters reputation has taken hits because of finals performances. Which is ultimately what we are here for.

Horny wasn’t great in finals either. And butters had broken ribs.

this year he did, sure. What about all the other times?

In any case, i couldnt give a shit if people rate butters higher or lower than JHF. I am just giving an explanation as to why he isn't revered

The explanation isn’t great though, because JHF has been just as poor in finals.

Butters averaged 27 disposals in the 2023 finals so it wasn’t like he was terrible.

Not many players have brought their a game in finals. It’s been a collective effort of most of them being shit really.

It's a tough competition, only one team can win it and we know it's really hard internally to do.

Lol guess who said that, Ken or JHF?

Horne-Francis played 24 of 26 games last season, when the Power were ultimately beaten in a preliminary final by Sydney.

"I think we had the youngest finals team going into it so the learnings were just, I guess, getting a bit of exposure to finals footy, which some of us young boys probably didn't have, getting more experience with that," he said.

if i were in a position of authority at PAFC the first thing i'd do is impose a review of why the club refuses to acknowledge the word 'lessons'. I'm convinced all our problems stem from this.

Pretty sure learnings is a league wide phenomenon.

Probably from the same plonker who tried to explain what humility in a competitive enviroment is supposed to mean.

It is supposed to mean, I MUST get better to reach the standards others have set.

We interpret it as, 'I am not as good as you and can't be'.

The word learnings does my head in

So what's his indigenous connection? Is one of his biological parents indigenous? Or is it the Fabian Francis thing?

So has JHF tbf.

Rozee, JHF, Rozee all legitimately on zero good finals games.

This is a little bit selective.

Just in the last two years:

2023 QF vs Brisbane:
Butters - 29 disposals (7 contested), 3 clearances, 1 goal assist, 5 score involvements and 7 tackles
Rozee - 28 disposals (12 contested), 8 clearances, 1 goal, 1 goal assist, 9 score involvements and 2 tackles

2023 SF vs GWS:
Butters - 25 disposals (5 contested), 2 clearances, 1 behind, 6 score involvements and 4 tackles

2024 QF vs Geelong:
JHF - 18 disposals (13 contested), 6 clearances, 1 goal 2 behinds, 5 score involvements and 3 tackles

2024 SF vs Hawthorn:
Rozee - 20 disposals (7 contested), 3 clearances, 1 goal, 6 score involvements and 9 tackles
JHF - 19 disposals (8 contested), 5 clearances, 1 goal 2 behinds, 2 goal assists, 5 score involvements and 1 tackle

2024 PF vs Sydney:
JHF - 23 disposals (12 contested), 7 clearances, 5 score involvements and 1 tackle.

When you look at the overall picture of the last 2 years of finals Port have played, it is not the midfield as a sole entity who have underperformed. There have been significant structural issues across the entire team which has led to some piss poor performances that no amount of talent can overcome.
