Some epidemilogists are already suggesting re test as that variant has not been found in any testing yet in Australia.

Brett himself admitted no tests in Melbourne have shown it up to now.
Could be from a diplomat in Canberra who went to jervis bay on a holiday.

In b4 new variant cases were either false positive or incorrectly identified

Start the Benny hill music.

Race is on to come up with a new scary name for this variant.. the EXTERMINATOR perhaps?

At risk of a sanction...

I know it is on the Federal Government but it has me perplexed how they let citizens return from a hotspot with all these new variants, parked them in HQ and then hoped nothing would happen. The country's second biggest economy in freefall (again) as a result of HQ failing us. Anyone learn from last year's disaster down here? Don't roll out the numbers to argue that HQ works and is largely successful - focus on the damage it causes when it doesn't work. The damage is huge and is not worth the risk. Anyone implement the findings from Andrews' inquiry? It beggars belief. Do they need a HQ failing/lockdown in NSW for the Federal Government to do something about it? They can go **** themselves with all the re-active decisions being made this week - all poll driven and self preservation. Special **** you to the Victorian politicians going into bat for Morrison. Andrews must be wrapped at Morrison's incompetence (which unfortunately will take some heat off him for his 'stellar' 2020 performance).

Without question.

The problem in Victoria is that the Libs do not provide a viable alternative.

Michael O'brien? He's unelectable. And the last guy (see what I did there) got slaughtered.
I was being sarcastic. Of course you are going to and only vote Labor.

Problem is Scomo is still the favoured choice **** knows why, Covid has been good for all the incumbents.

Apart from the normal questioning, stats and ambiguous description of 'fleeting' am i the only one who thinks everyone has glossed over the fact one of the cases was 'more than likely' infected from NSW?

That's the fascinating thing politically mate. Partisanship aside, the Vic government have done enough to be turfed out on their arses. But the alternative is unpalatable.

Then you have the national setup. Morrison is the most despicable leader of the worst federal government in my lifetime. Yet federal ALP is not exactly looking capable of seizing the opportunity of removing them.

It's truly bizarre.

The problem it seems with that is NSW have no record of this variant , and Sutton admitted nothing in Melbourne HQ either.

edit Paul Kelly NCHO has just confirmed bbq man in NSW had it, that was a fair while ago

Yes, apparently $200m for a decent HQ is too much, but lockdowns costing the same amount every weekend is fine, cos it works nearly all the time.

Oh, "it'll be a stranded asset" meanwhile they've got $600m for a stranded asset nobody except some gas companies want and they're already showing how short-sighted they are in assuming that the next vaccine-proof variant or completely different pandemic isn't potentially around the corner.

A sea of mediocrity or downright hideous.

Supposedly nothing in Sydney quarantine either for this strain at this stage either, no reports of it in any hotel quarantine.
Or nothing from the poo samples.

Either Sutton is right in his theory that it was from a kid to a kid in North Melbourne or it has remained in NSW and been undetected from the bbq sales guy.

Said it was in the bounds of possibility. Enough to throw doubt on it but i think most people in the department would be assuming it is very unlikely.

1 out of 204 cases have leaked out of HQ.

That is quite simply unacceptable numbers.

The NCHO Paul Kelly has just stated it was found with the BBQ man in NSW, which that was a very long time ago.

A golfing mate of mine received this today, to be fair though his real name could be confused with a girl :)

this is fake

I had my test on Wednesday (had fever, sore throat, headaches all week), and this is what happens (process has changed from last year):

1) you have to show your medicare care or photo drivers licence

2) you also have to register online now (if possible). Links a unique number to your medicare number, and contains your contact number, address, and name.

3) they ask for your reference number, and confirm your details before you leave

4) they reconfirm all details before giving you your test

5) you receive an email immediately after thanking you for your test, and a text message thanking you for your test. Both direct any questions to the DHHS website

6) if negative you get a text message (mine from Melb Pathology). The text is completely different to this one:

Melbourne Pathology
Dear Ned_Flanders
Ref:123456789, 02/06/21
RESULT: COVID-19 virus was NOT DETECTED.
If you feel unwell, call your doctor.

Agreed mate, they all have played the keeping you safe from Covid card and people have lapped it up, rather than looking at a whole what their government has done.

Opposition have no chance any where to gain ground whilst Covid is around, look at QLD she was a right arseh*le and admitted they were going to borrow huge and be in big debt, yet all anyone worried about was Covid.

Morrison is a flog, but it seems we are going to be stuck with a little while longer.
