That's the thing when he was sacked everyone in the AFL was saying you can't take him seriously.

Now, he is the all-knowing oracle of the AFL whose word we need to take as gospel
That's the same "all-knowing oracle" who has stated publicly on air that he uses other peoples notes on drafting and hasn't bothered to pull anything meaningful together himself.

Edited to say FF2 - was a sloppy number press.

Pies get - 18 and Future 3rd
Cats get - Henry and Future 2nd.

Except that Collingwood don't currently have access to a future 2nd as they traded theirs to GWS

Out of curiosity - what does FF2 mean? I can understand FR2 = future round 2, but the two FF confuses me

He may be worth more to us in 2023 in terms of being a back-up option than we could may get in trade value, but not sure he's necessarily going to play a lot of senior footy for us next season & considering he's then out of contract, we'd get even less in trade value

If Port are willing to stump up something like 35, let alone something like 20 - then surely we take it & run because that could help us with other trade pieces that we're trying to fit into place and us better placed going forward
Yeah I agree you'd probably take 35. But my concern is if SDK, Henry, Kolo etc go down with a serious injury, we are very vulnerable in defence.

He's great backup and who knows, if someone goes down he could play all year and cement his spot.

I agree Foxdog. Not many ex Falcons that have been drafted by a Melbourne club have 'come home' to Geelong. We've done well with interstate guys coming back or players wanting that country lifestyle, but not many from Melbourne clubs that were Falcons initially have come back. Most go on and have good carers at those clubs and are happy there.

I can't see Clark coming back here if he gets to Hawks. If he goes interstate, maybe..
Agree, if he is a mad Pies supporter then more than likely he would want to go there if he wanted out from the Hawks anyways.

He is more likely to get a game at Port than he is at Geelong.

Who's spot does he take in the Geelong side?
Right now, no one. But are we going to rely on having another great injury run again?

What if SDK goes down with a knee? What if Henry goes down and is out for months?

We will be sitting back wondering why we let a contracted and required player go for peanuts.

Its' factually incorrect. Full stop.

And Rendell backed away the minute someone called and challenged him on it.
"Because it just is" isn't an argument. To be fair, he's not the only journo running with the story that Geelong are now asking a lot more than they used to at trade time. And it does explain why these deals haven't just been done yet, when the price on all three (Bowes, Bruhn, Henry) seems pretty self-evident (f2, p18, f1).

If Blicavs goes down then it's a ruck replacement we'd be looking at - so surely that's when consideration is then given to Neale to play as the #2 ruck, we actually run with 2 rucks in Stanley & Ceglar or blood Conway with Stanley playing as his #2

It means I'm slightly skewed in regards to how I write FR - somewhere along the way it flared up and I have not been able to stop.

The Provisional table above is blocked at work so can't see the damned thing to see who has what.

I meant Henry ha ha, had Blitz on my mind!

I know others are running with it, but how many of the others running with the story are doing so based on Rendell initially "breaking" it and others just assuming that it's the situation?

If Rendell has since back tracked on his stance & that he was just looking for a headline - then couldn't that indicate the truth is less likely our only offer to date is pick 38?

If I was Mackie and Geelong, I'd be having a quiet conversation and demanding he make an apology on air and retract his incorrect remarks which might damage the clubs reputation.

Rendell would get very nervous I reckon.

IIRC, he 'resigned' from his list manager position at the Crows after comments he made about recruiting indigenous players.

If you have a listen to him reviewing sides.... they do a rewind to what he said the previous year. That in itself shows how little one should put in what he says but the issue is once it is said... its out there... what did they start with this morning...Cornes and Llloyd replayed his comments ... almost like they were factual.

Make too much of it and it makes it worse...dont defend your self and you are just a target.

The best way to rebut something is like the guys did this year when they dressed up as "mature" guys arriving for mad monday.

If and when Geelong get it all done ...Mackie goes on the show and smiles and talks about success and how its achieved , takes time and good judgement etc etc... and then states exactly what the truth was according to him ..and call out anything that was wrong.

They say revenge is a dish be served cold .... even better if the dish is humble pie.

I think if we trade Sav we need to look at a cheap mature age key defender in the rookie draft as insurance. We could get badly exposed if we get long term injuries IMO

OK I'll expand.

I know it's incorrect because XXX told me

I don't think it's as simple as F2, P18, F1 because under AFL rules we can't give up F1 & F2 without getting at least a F2 in return from somewhere.

Yes we can, but we need permission from the AFL c/o a rule designed to stop clubs from doing a Crazy Vossy with their future. Given it's all for young players, I don't think it would be an issue.

Yes I think that's exactly what Mackie will do.

What's concerning is someone like Rendell even being employed in these roles to begin with given his history.

IIRC he even called Ollie Dempsey a key position player. Poor researching and attention to detail too.

But as we know, the standards and expectations of those working in various footy media roles are very low.
