Was Morton a 20 year old in his first season playing in a GF winning multiple centre clearances when his side was 20 points down.
I get it, he's an impact player whose best is spectacular. Do you pay an extremely high price for that type of player and call it a good deal? Depends entirely on how often he produces it. Since that quarter in 2021, how often have we seen it in 25 or so games since? He didn't finish in the top 10 in Melbourne's B&F last year

If he’s still an impact player in two years time i’d be worried.

Yep he can definitely add Jake Watermelons scalp to his belt

We are never breaking even on that deal
and we have somehow added an impotent midfield to an impotent fwd line

I know this place skews positive as much as it can with a team like Freo and pessimistic posters like myself upset the happy clappers but JFC there are more warning lights flashing on the panels than 30 secs before Chernobyl blew up

All signs indicate a young team and off- field crew that have their heads so far up our own ass we’ve disappeared

Classic trap …. our favourite kind
Gamble was that there isn't a tall of Jackson's calibre available in this draft. Quite the gamble but you do need to consider that Jackson has revealed more than the kid you are taking a punt on.

So will I. I've read elsewhere on this board we need to be patient and we won't see him at his peak for 6-7 years. I can't get my head around that as a reasonable ambition.

One team really wanted to win so badly that they threw everything they had at the opposition, as it was their grand final. The other team didn't even turn up and and still won by 41 points over a team so desperate to win, that their players were dropping like flies from the toll that it was taking on them. At the end of the day, one team walked off the ground as winners without breaking a sweat, whilst the other team were carried off the ground on stretchers, only to then begin looking for excuses.

If there was a trophy for desperation and determination to win a game, the Eagles would still be jogging around Optus Stadium holding it up to the sun and drinking from it.

It was a brave fight indeed, but at what cost?

To The Spoils Go The Victor!!!!!!!!
A Pyrrhic victory could be seen as stupidity, but a pyrrhic loss is plain laughable.

mike91 and Joao other Jackson doubters, I'm not trying to be a smart arse but judge how much hopium I'm huffing, if that game on the weekend is close to the baseline we can expect from Jackson each week for this year, is that good enough to not be too upset at the trade for now?

Would want continued improvement (which we should get) moving forward but I thought he was pretty influential and showed more than a couple of glimpses of what we paid for.
I'm crazy busy ATM (really shouldn't be browsing BF let alone posting) so I haven't watched the whole game in depth. I did see most of the second half.

It's a start but I still feel the same way I did before we got him. Dude has attributes and would/will be a very good player if you can play him somewhere that suits him. My concern is still very much that whilst Darcy is there, we are never getting the most out of either.

Man, look, I'm worried about where we finish this year making the deal disgusting but you are going way too early on a 21 year old KPP after 3 games. I think he definitely has talent and watching him head over the ball and aerial contests, he's no Schache scared of contact tall. The guy is going to be playing for 10 years and you are basically saying the trades a write-off after 3 games?

Cmon , 2x1sts and a high 2nd if things don’t go well ?

It’s a bloody motza even if it does go well

You’re a lynchpin of the trade and draft board I’ve see you be way harsher on way better deals than this when teams are overpaying

One high first (if we miss finals) and one low first and I definitely thought we overpayed given his contract status so I suppose you’re right in that sense but if we make finals this year (looking iffy) then it shouldn’t be a disaster trade if he keeps trending up.

To try to add nuance to it, I think it was weak trading regardless of the end result in 10 years but it’ll be a while to know if it was a fair trade, if that makes sense

Good Value

I’d like to see those words used a lot more by Freo in every single decision we make

That’s it

Picks , Contracts , IR , fan engagement…. the lot

Change our whole trajectory around

Think it’s bloody exciting.
Jl finally utilised Jackson properly on the weekend. Chuck him in the midfield. The thing that stood out was when he getting the loose ball, he impacted the contest and kept going. If he’s roving around, forcing smaller opponents to man up on him, becomes problematic.
West coast had nothing after Tabs v Barrass, McGovern v Amiss. Faster ball movement to expose the match up is important

I've said it before...Jackson will kick more goals as a mid than he will as a permanent forward.

Unless he starts sticking a few marks, then anything is possible.

That first goal he kicked blew the lid off. Then the second more relief.
Now that he has kicked those, he ll play with more freedom.
He has taken Fyfe’s role in which he was supposed to a have. Think for the forward line it’s actually useful and dynamic adding Fyfe/JOM rotating as well.

You’re right , he has the athletic traits to win a normie but we’ve seen it over and over the pressure that gets applied to our big ticket trades over here

Our drafting has been good( ish besides fwds )

It’s not playing the percentages

And I ****ing hate not playing the percentages

I think you are right in that Darcy and Jackson maybe never fully work properly to get the most out of eachother and also that we need a good key forward (who is ready to go) to pair with Amiss...

Who could forget this disgusting act when Son Son was injured in a much closer derby?

Not enough imo. Not even close for what we are paying.

Hate going to the home games. Don’t know if it’s due to years gone by or perhaps Optus stadium bigger capacity allows more eagles fans. But it’s not fun.
Their players are arrogant, their fans are even more knobs. In the end the stress levels goes up, and regardless of winning, just want to head home ASAP.
It is a sad indictment of how bad it is in a two team town.Back in my dim dark past, it was great to go watch the WAFL and banter with the opposition, but now it makes one shudder should an opposition supporter sit along side us at the game.
We really, as West Aussie lost the ability to banter at games.
Yep I hate the Yellas. I am not sure how many times I have been offered tickets to the Yellas derby.Knocked them back every time. I shudder to think of all that dribble and Yella around me.
I had an obnoxious one sitting two up from me. On the turps all day, trying to bait me. Bet every time he tried I just yelled louder.
They really are something else aren't they.

Jeez, that's pretty freaking tough on a 21 year old. I mean, as already said, an asterisk needed due to the quality of opposition but 2 goals, 7 tackles and a few contested marks arent even close?

If he does that every week I'd wager we make finals

Imagine if he had the aggression of someone like Des Headland. Hopefully he inherits his ability to kick goals on the run from outside 50 which he almost did on the weekend.

I couldn’t care less how many of those blue and yellow weevils injured themselves yesterday. It’s AFL football and they need to suck it up instead of enlisting their sycophant media buddies to help them turn it into a mammoth David & Goliath epic production.

If they want an example of bravery, try writing about Fyfe playing a final with a broken leg. Now that’s courage!

I feel like I'm a fairly rational sort of man, but having our injury crisis years completely ignored by the media has led to a degree of apathy towards the poor victimised Eagles. Doesn't help that their supporters whinge about it endlessly at my work and in the community.

G'day all. I've served my ban and ready to have my 2 cents.

Not too much on the game was pretty self explanatory. We won but played ok. Nothing to cheer about, they lost 4 of there b22 and were still in it in the 4th quarter. Henry was terrible, serong was elite, Aishwarya understed, Jackson stepped up a bit still can't mark a football. Our tacking is embarrassing. Taberner needs to * off yesterday.

Now, I was banned from a freo forum by a fellow freo supporter for saying "love Eagles injuries " then had a whinge at the sensitivities from some of the crew on this site. Meanwhile, you had an eagle fan on here TROLLING us after our momentus win with impunity. Was he banned? No! Disgraceful by the mods and other fellow snowflake zealots on here who would rather spare the feelings of the brave Eagles players than kick them when they're down. If that's what the modern freo fan has become (online) then that's a disgrace. They HATE us and we HATE them and if only we gave as good as we get we'd have a hint of respect.

Seeing as you joined here two weeks ago, no one's going to take you that seriously. We all had to experience it - welcome to the Soprano's.

Also - 'Aishwarya understed' - what in the holy heck is this.
