Well the players seem behind him still..

Romero quoted on bbc..

"He's a great coach. We saw it in the first season. In this second one we've suffered a lot of injuries.

"Players are the first one to be criticised, then if we lose 10 games, the staff can be changed, but nobody talks about what is actually happening.

"We are very happy with this staff, me and my colleagues. We love how they work and the football they try to play. We'll try to move on quickly."

Son saying the players are very young and need fan support.

Should’ve won the Final too, tbh.
Start Moura and would’ve threaten Liverpool. Instead Kane was so easy for VVD.

Not sure what Levy expects. Should give Ange time to build, but just feel the club thinks they’re bigger then they are.
Arteta gets time, yet haven’t won anything.
Apparently pushing Man City for one season erases the years before it.
Excuse me we have an FA Cup ;)

This is the thing that I hated about the "Arteta out" crowd a year in. If you come into a club with issues i.e what Arsenal were, what United currently are, then it takes a few transfer windows to clear out the old players, bring in your new players, instill your game style, and even then you still need luck with your own form, other teams form and injuries.

What Slot is doing is rare for anyone to come in, have a fairly charmed run with injuries, and luck out that 1st and 2nd from the previous season have had horrendous form/injury issues.

Typically someone like Slot would come in and take a couple of seasons to really challenge.

I think Palmer probably had to leave to become the player he's becoming now.

He wasn't going to get game time ahead of the players we had in front of him, and when he did play he never really showed that he deserved to play more regularly.

Loan maybe would have been better, but by all accounts he wanted a permanent move, and we have a fairly consistent approach of letting people go when they want to leave.

Worked out really well for him and Chelsea, but we've done OK as well.

Liverpool weren't far off last season. Two draws against City, and they were top of the league for quite a while. Slot hasn't needed to change too much. But yeah it has helped them that City and Arsenal have dropped off this season.

True but how often do you see a manager come in, not really lose key players from the list, not bring in someone that either gets injured and/or fails to fire who is in to fix a previous seasons issue, and not have players drop off in a significant way.
Often when new managers come in they have at least 2 of those things typically happen.
And add in they usually come in with a new style or system that takes players time to adjust which usually means dropped points.
Slot has had an absolutely charmed run. Absolutely inspired choice by whoever was in charge, even if City and Arsenal didn't have a severe drop off Liverpool would still currently be top.

Also not sure many had Salah repeating and possibly surpassing his 21/22 EPL numbers this season, he will pass his assists (currently 8 needs 13) and will likely pass goals too (currently 13 needs 23).

I am amazed City let Palmer go, I am also shocked no one else went for him. Or did he specifically want Chelsea?
He was headed out on loan to most likely to Brighton, but when our deal for Olise fell through he was the next name on our list and it was a pretty easy choice for him. Pep never really trusted him.

He was a fair unknown at the time and only took 3 games to play more senior epl minutes for us than he had at City. Joe Shields is the one to thank, who had a bit to do with him at City and is now our chief 'scout'.

I wouldn’t say being without your first choice goalkeeper and first choice centre forward for most of the season is a charmed run. Add in no Elliott all season, a few weeks out for Trent, and now Konate and I think Liverpool have had their fair share of misfortune in that area. Maybe not the worst but certainly not a charmed run.

Lol no one's giving ange any lee way with much worse than that.
At the end of the Chelsea game he had Vicario, Romero, VDV, Davies, Bentancur, Johnson, Richarlison Moore and Odobert all unavailable.
The best GK, 3 of CBs, the best DM an literally all of the forward depth.

I’m with you, I think it would be ridiculous for them to sack him.

Honestly didn't really see much to indicate that Lopetegui should continue after that performance.

We were just lucky to be playing Wolves, anyone else and we probably lose that match.

And not really sure what got into Lemina at the final whistle.

I think that the criticism of him not having a plan B are probably correct. He has Rangers, Southampton , Liverpool as next games. I think he needs to be winning 2, 1 draw from next 3 games to be definitely safe for a couple more after that.

I would argue what Klopp did was rare - leave a club while it is still in a very good state.

Wenger and Fergie had to be prised out. And still Fergie never actually went away until this year - if he has gone away

Our only signing in the summer doesn't exist either.

Even this plan b talk is all silly. Clearly had a different plan to City and Villa.

Take away Chelsea and Brighton second halves and they concede 12 in 13 games. That’s not a defensive disaster with their injuries and lack of subs. Some Spurs fans are very whiny.

I find any accusation that a professional football manager doesn't have a plan B a bit silly and a really easy fall back for people that don't have the tactical nous to understand what a manager is doing. We got it a lot last season when people wanted to be critical of Rosenior even though we had clear shape and style shifts not just from one game to the next but from one half to the next. Ange has said he wants to play the same way regardless of personnel but that doesn't mean there aren't nuances to that style depending on the opposition or state of play within a game. As you said, it's pretty clear that he shifts and tweaks things when necessary. Even just the simple shift of Sarr for Maddison for instance is very clearly going to change the shape of the midfield.

Klopp left us in such a good state that it was easier for Slot to come in and do well. But you're right about Arteta and time.

But he's had that time. Now it's time to win trophies. So his next 2-3 years IMO will be important to see if he can be a success at Arsenal long term.

Was with some mates on the weekend (United, Spurs, Everton) and they reckon Arteta is running out of time. Me and the other Arsenal fella just rolled our eyes.

"He's won the same amount of trophies as Ten Hag in the same time" and rubbish like that. I tried to explain clearly we are on a much better trajectory but they weren't interesed in that.
