i see your point but that would be a form of censorship. my first port of call is bluesky, but it has a way to go and many of the worthwhile peeps haven’t transitioned yet.

I don't think Musk would have anything to fear, because he used a gesture that could be interpreted that way, but he would be able to plausibly argue that it just looked a little clumsy but he was saying at the time that he loved the crowd or whatever - it wouldn't clear the intentionality hurdle.

2. bc one outlet may censor it doesn’t follow others should follow like lemmings. criticism works. bluesky is blossoming at the expense of ‘x’ i believe. but there remain many good posters who haven’t transitioned yet. and bluesky still a work in progress.

He's a damaged human being, but that is no excuse.
For someone who professes to hate bullies, censorship and lies, he's through to the semis without dropping a set in all three categories.
Not sure about elsewhere, but in Germany, Spain and Switzerland, Tesla is on the backfoot because people just don't want any association with him.
Won't matter to him, he's moved on to cosplaying an efficiency expert and Mars holiday salesman / top 2 all-time gamer.
The one thing I will never get is that we have all taken on increasingly extreme positions to counter what we perceive as the other side's excesses that we refuse to acknowledge when one of our own clearly transgresses / blatantly lies / ...just on general principle.
Only have to look at Trump and right wing commentators on TikTok then vs now, they've done a complete 180 and just pretend they never said what they said.
The hyper partisan stuff is very dangerous, plenty of examples at both extremes, not only on the right.

"Stolen valour" is the perfect way to describe Elon.

He didn't invent Tesla. He bought it and immediately lied to get loans and subsidies to rapidly expand.

He isn't responsible for any of SpaceX's breakthroughs, but claims to be a leading engineer. (He isn't).

He made promises about Hyperloop that haven't even come remotely close to coming true.

He didn't invent twitter, and took a successful social media platform and is running it into the ground.

He went on Joe Rogan and bragged about how he's a world class gamer, but was revealed to be (obviously) paying other people to play his accounts.

Everything about him is phony.
