Just a thought for all clubs and supporters, if Keilor make the Grand Final again this year which is more than likely, to support the EDFL in the sanctions they handed down to them for $45k over the salary cap I think we should boycott the game at Windy Hill thus costing the EDFL truckloads and pointing out where fed up with the Limp Dick penalties they hand down.

Every senior club in in the Edfl in all levels understand that you need to be putting time , money and effort into their junior programs year on year other than one .I hear they are doing some work with their juniors this year what about the last 10 years. They thought they would come in and be successful with the same model but it will not work in the edfl . Absolutely no depth to fall back on . Mismanagement at the highest level. Enjoy the hot weather on Saturday

Was a well respected coach a long time ago but he is too old school for the modern game. With Deer Park’s huge resources there no.1 priority should be a coach of the calibre of Mighty Mick, Tudor, Prendegast etc. and a sharp footy manager that can network and is in touch with the multitudes of 19-24yo guns around the country. They have the bank to build something scary if they built it over the next 3 years, the beauty for the rest of us is we know they won’t! It’s always the big profile past his best or next ex AFL name.

Then, pay a popular reserves coach that can put a competitive team on the park. Won’t happen straight away but you have to start putting some foundations in place or nothing will ever change.

Hosting Greenvale on the rebound this week might tell us if Deer Park are genuine or all bark no bite
Might have to sound out Pat Christofis services to undertake one, or some, or if not all of those responsibilities

I think Calmdowngoldy is obsessed with Deer Park and may need some help to overcome his obsession.

Where to for deer park if they don't make finals?
I don't know the answer to that but the talk around town is DP like to strut around looking like Tarzan but most of em' play like Jane. That may have worked in the Footscray comp but they ain't got no Cred on this side of Ballarat Road!

Deer Park won 4 of their flags before the Points system came into being ( I won’t mention the salary cap for obvious reasons) . Then 2 of the last 3 were won by less than a kick. The points system was always going to make it impossible for a club to succeed without much of a junior base . They were on a clear decline in their last days in the WRFL . Some of the teams they were able to assemble from 2013 to 2018 would have cleaned up most local teams in Australia. Once their gun 1 pointers got too old ( Mcharg Stewart Greenhough McKenzie Etc) they were always going to come back to the field no matter the competition they were in .

What club do you support big boy!!!
Bet you don't disclose the "creditable club" you follow. For a club that none of you rate, there's plenty of keyboard warriors on here infatuated with mentioning them though!!! Come by and show us your strut next time your at Deer Park champ!

These days, all local footy is about is money and so clubs are neutering juniors and not spending the time to get them into seniors.

Striving to be as good as the best isn’t realistic, particularly not in local football. People talk about that but it’s not reality. Some clubs have entrenched advantages due to all kinds of reasons that can’t be overcome by others. “Just being smarter and better” doesn’t work, it’s not a business where you can get the best people to do so… the clubs are run by volunteers and it’s luck of the draw in terms of who walks in the door as a volunteer.

You have the same clubs winning year after year and decade after decade, it’s not because they’re inherently smarter. The salary cap has made some difference (if clubs follow it, which some big clubs often dont), so will the points system.

The original idea of the points system was that it would be tiered based on results to even things up. The metro leagues have resisted this. They never wanted the points system at all, all they are interested in is their own league being the best. They haven’t done what was intended, they’d rather just have an even high points total so it has little effect on the established order because most clubs don’t hit the limit anyway.

Add in the fact that most leagues are run by people from big clubs who have the big club view of things.

You cannot rely on the metro leagues to do equalisation, they don’t want it and will never do it properly.
So based on your response , can you please offer a solution? It seems I have tried and all you have done is give more rhetoric!

It continues to evolve and you have to keep working on it.

But as I said, the policies and penalties have to sit with AFL Vic. The leagues will never do it properly.

Until the league hierarchy engages smart, neutral leaders who don’t side with individuals or certain clubs and do a review and make necessary changes nothing will change. Points system for junior teams is a must and more important than a points system in senior footy.

For clubs I encourage to put into your budget a junior football director and pay 18.5 coaches and give them the relevant training to educate, upskill junior players to keep them in the game and progression into senior footy. Previous years of seeing clubs 2nd sides playing clubs 1st sides didn’t work and I would say seen kids leave the sport. Finally a division just for clubs 2nds sides. Thirds footy was a good idea to keep kids in footy but unfortunately some clubs totally stuffed it by continuing to allow idiots to play and young kids getting king hit. Once again what did the league do to stamp that out. The punishment wasn’t enough..

For all the comments regarding how to even up competition ( especially Premier League ) There is only one way to do this. It is the points system. Every team should not be on 46 points.
If you win the flag, that team the next year should be 42 at a min and then if they win it again come into 38 points and if they win again, come into 32 points As an example Keilor win the flag last year and on Saturday play with 45 points out of 46. This is ridiculous! If they do not make top 2, they can gain an extra point back each year
Then on the flip side the team coming from B Grade should get at least 50 points. and the second bottom gets 2 points extra and be 48. The runner up in GF should lose 2 points for the following year and play on 44.
We all know Keilor and a few other clubs here are cheating the salary cap, but if the points system was something like the above, that is the only way you can even up this competition, and not make it a joke of a competition between 2 or maybe 3 clubs
Along with capping how many junior sides these powerful clubs have, and also be stricter with having some sort of points system when juniors are swapping from under 14s and up to 18s, so these clubs can't poach the good kids, plus do zones where children live also.
Until the league grow some balls and have someone in charge who is not going to be influenced by the powerful clubs this Premier League will be a joke and uneven!

Also For the league to not strip Keilor of at least 4 points for cheating is an absolute joke, plus they should have had say -8 premiership points on top of this to start the season !

Brains trust what would be the average age of volunteers at clubs across premier league including President down would you think?.

To be fair 1OUT1BACK, the reason DP seems to be targeted is because, maybe not you, but others came in all guns blazing both in the DIV 1 and Premier Divisions, saying how good you guys are and come look at our trophy cabinet.

So unfortunately the attention you guys are getting on here is by your own making.
