Not a good start to the season for DP with their under 18’s going down by 153 points in div 2 . I hope their ressies and u18’s can keep fronting up but after losses like that I’m not confident
Under 18 s kicked 1 point and lost by 153 points with 18 players in under 18 div 1
Reserves kicked 1 point and lost by 215 points with 19 players
Seniors kicked 55 points and lost by 139 points (played with 40/46 points)

i would suggest the season is gone after round 1 and god help any injuries or the losses are getting bigger and the forfeits are coming

Got to give them some credit for getting a side up in 18.5s. With the league still allowing certain clubs to raid junior talent from competing clubs and have 2-3-4 sides in an age group it will continue. If you are a good junior at a club like Deer Park rest assured those clubs come for you with promises and at times incentives.. It’s a disgrace and the league does f all, hence the penalty for breaches which by the way the league tried to cover up and keep quite till AFL vic stepped in.

Turbo, you sniped at my club last year for forfeiting an 18s game due to player unavailability & yet a club that has had adequate time and means to figure it out over a decade, deserve credit? Nah.. **** that.
Out of curiosity, why do you think anyone ends up at Deer Park beyond the inducements on offer?
Most of their players were poached from current or former rivals ffs - surely there are better clubs to use to make your point.

Sadly, EDFL Premier has become very boring.
Nobody wants to go and watch 150 point beltings and I doubt the players and coaches get anything from them either.

The Div 1 U16s and U14s are similarly lopsided. Until the EDFL shows some appetite to restrict numbers per club at the junior level, then this same cycle will continue.

On the flip side, Div 1 (B Grade) is a fantastic even comp. I don't know why anyone would want to get promoted from there TBH.
Premier Div has been boring for many years now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did Mighty Mick receive any sledging as was reported on this forum he was going to receive?
Just listened to after game interviews with coaches and Barbuto....
Mick is a great coach , no doubt.... But the absolute dribble he comes out with trying to let everyone know how great Keilor as a club are and they will only recruit players with good character. He is responsible for trying to put the club on a pedestal , but the fact is they are Dirty Rotten Cheats who have lost any Respect they may have built up over many years...
Yes - Best onfield team in it , but certainly the worst off it....
Mick and the rest of the joint will certainly understand what the footy community thinks of them Round 3 & 4...

This is the problem as footy numbers across the state start to dry up. Teams will slowly die and there is no one there to protect them. Look at the demographic of Deer Park. More and more it is not AngloSaxons so the number of kids playing the game decreases. Then there is no money so once that dries up your Club is dead and buried.

Hey BJ I had cause last year. Deer Park have appointed a good 18.5 coach and apparently his done well to get a side up. It’s a tough area in Deer Park to find young footballers.

Yes money attracts them but they do get good loyal support. Unfortunately money attracts them to majority of clubs including Keilor yet they say they don’t. Cmon..

Kids are turned away and clubs need to invest in good 18.5 coaches and pay em.

Onto Deer Park and could it be the list is reasonable but not sure if the coach can actually coach. His no Mark Bullen that I can tell you. Think they should have looked outside rather than inside for a coach.

Stay well BJ

Was a well respected coach a long time ago but he is too old school for the modern game. With Deer Park’s huge resources there no.1 priority should be a coach of the calibre of Mighty Mick, Tudor, Prendegast etc. and a sharp footy manager that can network and is in touch with the multitudes of 19-24yo guns around the country. They have the bank to build something scary if they built it over the next 3 years, the beauty for the rest of us is we know they won’t! It’s always the big profile past his best or next ex AFL name.

Then, pay a popular reserves coach that can put a competitive team on the park. Won’t happen straight away but you have to start putting some foundations in place or nothing will ever change.

Hosting Greenvale on the rebound this week might tell us if Deer Park are genuine or all bark no bite

They won 7 games last year. And will most likely better that this year with their improved list. They will beat the teams around them. As stated previously, they didn’t beat a top 5 team last year. And that’s a big jump.

Funny we didn’t hear anything from DP about the unevenness of the competition when they were bullying a second rate competition a few years ago
Seem to forget the 2 covid years they were certainly not the side they had been previously and didn’t win the flag their last year in WRFL. Looking at the list from that year, seems some familiar names.

Just a thought for all clubs and supporters, if Keilor make the Grand Final again this year which is more than likely, to support the EDFL in the sanctions they handed down to them for $45k over the salary cap I think we should boycott the game at Windy Hill thus costing the EDFL truckloads and pointing out where fed up with the Limp Dick penalties they hand down.

Like it 👊

Every senior club in in the Edfl in all levels understand that you need to be putting time , money and effort into their junior programs year on year other than one .I hear they are doing some work with their juniors this year what about the last 10 years. They thought they would come in and be successful with the same model but it will not work in the edfl . Absolutely no depth to fall back on . Mismanagement at the highest level. Enjoy the hot weather on Saturday

Might have to sound out Pat Christofis services to undertake one, or some, or if not all of those responsibilities
