EDFL Premier Discussion 2025

Interesting game at Keillor this week with Deer Park getting flogged in last weekends practice match apparently. Seniors kicked 6 goals and ressies 1. Depth could be an issue again
That was the week before champ. Several not available with cricket finals and unavailable for a praccy for various reasons. ( That's right a practice match!!!! ) Great hit out against Berwick last Saturday with several still missing but got on top in the second half. The only part of the comment that is correct is the ressies depth. Not exactly sure if that's on the forefront of the clubs mind atm though tbh.

Tough assignment against the benchmark this week nevertheless. Won't be the only side severally tested against Mick's Mob though as we all know.

So I see the EDFL have been reading my posts and now created a 18.5 premier RESERVE division where all premier 2nd 18 teams play. So they don’t play other teams ones sides from div2 mainly.

Only 2 Div1 clubs with a 2nd 18s in Hillside and Moonee Valley.

I’m not a Deer Park fan at all. Don’t know much about them. Did go and watch them against Berwick last Saturday. Deer park won by 9 points. Deer Park reserves lost by 140 points.

Just like when they wanted you to appear on the match of the day coverage?

Yes, a single B grade flag. Well done.
Hey BJ, trust your well.
I’m no follower of Deer Park and well aware of they spend up but they do travel in numbers and always come in for plenty of beers and a chat post game including a large number of players all in uniform. They show a lot of clubs including the Keilors how it’s done. Even getting a bus out to some grounds..
At home games I only hear good reports from friends that have been unlike some clubs that are so far up themselves it’s not funny.
I couldn’t give a rats about them but credit where it’s due.

Also they aren’t in a fluent area like Keilor, Abers, Strathmore, Pascoe Vale, Greenvale, but have survived and have a lot of old players still attend games and functions. They have done better than a lot of clubs from the old FDL so I give them a bit credit..

Cheers

Sure thing & that's great.
That's a separate matter altogether though, mate.
However, crowing about premierships in your former comp to those you're now competing against, does tend to draw a resounding response of "meh".

Good luck to South this year, too.

Bang on turbo. BTW it is affluent not fluent. Just imagine if Port Phillip and Barwon allowed day release how many more would turn up to support the specialist premiers against the likes of the failed accountants from the more (af)fluent areas like the convicted Keilorites.
A short message to all here too. May the season ahead be everything you wish it to be and I sincerely wish you good luck, good health and good banter. Bring it on....

Heard early in the week Keilor struggling to field a womens team.
Looks to be the case as they’ve only listed 15 players for tomorrow.
Quite sure most on here, like me don’t have much interest women’s footy just find it odd the all and might Keilor would struggle to field any side.

I’ve been hearing a drop off in women numbers across the board unfortunately, and Keilor women do have a lot of VFL aligned players as well.

It’s costing local clubs a lot of money to run there women’s programs & at the end of the day it doesn’t bring in any revenue. Honestly can’t see how it survives the next 5 years.

Too many VFL aligned players like the men’s side? That’s what cost them a flag.
Seriously how about making sure you can field a team Rnd 1???
