Owens is also about 12-13 years younger than Sikora which is a big advantage.

Losing Micallef, Long and Stephens will definitely hurt.

McCallum, P Smith and O'Dwyer are not exactly spring chickens and didn't have a great impact during 2024 (McCallum missed the majority of games with injury, Smith was overseas for a couple of months).

Most of the younger guys from the senior team who are in their early 20's have signed on again - Jones, Matson, Marlow, Bugeja, Papa, Melilli and a few others.

It's a new era with a new coach so I am sure many will be feeling optimistic.

The new club rooms are finally happening and I have no doubt they'll be in full swing by round one.
Club will slide. DC is a control freak and all about himself and you all stood by and watched. Now you lay the boots in as he leaves and takes what and who he wants.

Zak is a great bloke and coach and will do a great job if given time. New rooms won’t make a difference.. it’s the culture between the walls.

Will be interesting to see how long before you turn on him if he decides to do a full rebuild..optimistic or not. The drop is on the way..

All this hype about dc being a shit coach and bloke half his team has followed him.

Harry fry has signed at Talbot with DC news on the street along with a few other mooney valley blokes

You must of been a fringe reserve player that never got a game I’m guessing
This is a big blow for MVFC as they were building around Fry coming from aberfeldie and bring VFL and Premier experience and culture to club this will set them back

Very difficult for Moonee Valley to compete with offers like Talbot. Would be triple the MV matchies. Big loss I agree, hopefully for them Horne has a few to come in

Would be good to see him give MV 1 more under a new coach. Only been there a year.

Would have him very short odds to be leaving.
Wonder if Fry leaving has a flow on effect. Would be danger signs if they lost a few more on top of Fry. I Think one of Denny’s boys was a TL junior. Another handy one pointer alongside Hobbs and Younan if they got him.

Would be inept list management from top to bottom if MV lost Fry and Denny after announcing a new coach who is a big get.

Not sure if you're specifically referring to me or not but I am not laying the boots into anyone!

I don't really have any opinion about him leaving and taking players with him. I don't know their reasons for leaving and even if I did, it's none of my business! I'm just there for the footy :)

As far as the comments about optimism, well I suppose a new season with a new coach may be a good thing for any club. The new rooms will be great for someone like me who lives a stone throw away and can go and enjoy a meal on a Thursday night.

My main points are that the majority of young senior players at Tulla have signed on for 2025 and hopefully the new coach can build a solid team over the next few years.

I've seen a few coaches come and go at the club and I certainly have never turned on any of them or layed the boots in. For me it's about enjoying myself at the footy on a Saturday arvo. I stay out of the more serious stuff.

Bring on 2025!

Have heard today harry Fry was spotted signing a contract with dc at a cafe and Charles Atkins is going also !

Seen him today with the melton south board members at a cafe signing a contract.

Heard he is taking 5 players from Tullamarine also all key players

Same cafe that DC was signing at Melton South?

They are on the move because they are getting offered double what MV is prepared to offer.

Not sure if they have signed on the dotted line yet otherwise Talbot's socials would be all over it.
What happened to MV having cash and going hard? Yet to announce any signings and talk of Fry/Aitken leaving.

They would be favourites for relegation at the present, very disappointing after announcing a new coach and a lot of hype on here.

Covelli X
Padmore ?

Always thought he was under utilised by St.A, probably why he left.

Outs: Simms, Micallef, Carter, Lyons, Atun supposedly travels long distance is he staying ?

Long way to go with recruiting still in full swing.
Yes exactly. His a gun player for his age (Brodie Lyons) and could be anything. Not sure going WRFL was a great move but his more than capable of playing top division. Some rave about young McGuane well I think this kids better at the same age.

They have cash because they are very careful how they spend it.

Every club lives on the smell of an oily rag save for a handful that have large junior contingents. MV is one of those however the tide can turn very quickly as we have seen with East Keilor, Rupertswood, Westmeadows and many others - and I mean no disrespect to any of those clubs.

Sometimes you just have to play the long game and not get sucked into a bidding war. Trust the culture that you have. The good news is more young players will get a taste of senior footy making them less likely to leave down the track.

Totally agree and always had a lot of time for MV. However the landscape is changing and you have to move with it or get stuck behind.

If Aitken/Fry leave that is 2 young talents gone and opens up the door for others to leave also.

Already missed on Covelli and likely Padmore as doubt he is coming until others commit first.

Hope I’m wrong and MV have a great 2025 as they have solidified themselves as a B grade club very well the last 3 years. Would be disastrous to get caught in a relegation battle after doing the hard yards.

They need to add a few more and that’s without the departure of Fry and Aitken

To be fair, Fry has only played at the club for one season. Good bloke and great player but the club will move on.

The landscape is the same as it always has been. Clubs ignore juniors and pay overs for seniors. There is a quick sugar hit but soon enough they find it’s not sustainable.

MV lost Padmore and McGrath a few seasons back. Probably 2 of the best players in C Grade. The club survived.
