I can't see Freo having enough salary cap to please everyone or the picks to please clubs.
If melbourne play hardball i think they will have a decision to make.

Any team can make room to fit in a player but in this case you would need a buy in from Chad to sign for similar he would be getting offered at Sydney, from the other players taking less and that’s what they might be doing now with restructuring their deals. (There was no report of Bolton taking less when traded so would others be prepared to as well, probably unlikely) and Brayshaw leaving probably nearly $500k a year on the table like Chad would be imo. Saints going hard by all reports and have plenty of cap room.

These players would also be committing to taking less at this stage with little to no team success. Most teams don’t go down this track until they win a flag or go deep in the finals.

I can’t see who they would trade? Darcy makes most sense but seems very popular in the club and the problem with him and his trade value is, if he plays in 2025, he’s a difference maker and would be a tough call to make and teams would also know why he’s on the trade block, means you probably don’t get fall value. If he doesn’t, is a salary dump and you will be paying more assets to get rid of that contract.
