Gaff- for our first round pic
Trew- for our second pic
Maric promoted to senior list with our 4th round

Rotham and witho have been pretty good tbh and deserve 1 year extensions

Hedwards future is dependent on busslinger

JJ - L.Baker?

L.edwards and burgiel maybe delisted then re rookied depending on how the draft plays out

Baker may get delisted from rookie list

Read this as some sort of trade suggestion and I was absolutely fascinated by where the rest was going. Took me a minute...

If we got Buss, Bazzo played a few WAFL games toward the end of the year or at least was fit and firing ready for a big preseason, and we were semi-confident Jamo could hold down a key post in the absence of TB AND Gov, I think we could be confident letting HEdwards go.
I dont think Jamo is our guy to be emergency cover as a KPD, but the unfortunate thing for HEdwards is he is out of contract and Jamo is not, and we have to delist somebody.

Id be happy to re-rookie him if another club doesnt chase him, essentially swapping his list spot with Culley.

Can anybody think of a club that might look into HEdwards at the end of the year? Any chance of a late pick upgrade for him?
The Dogs if they lose Buss might require some KPD depth as Jones is close to the end.
HEdwards + a 2nd rounder for Buss maybe?
If I was north melbourne I'd take hedwards any day of the week get a round 4 back maybe at best. Can't be any worse than delisting him and getting nothing if we acquire busslinger

Yeah, most teams don't even have 1 A grade KPF, we currently have 2(3 if Darling continues to pull his finger out).

Madness to trade one for an unproven kid.
Yeah, but that kid could be a gun. Imagine what we would get for him in a trade. You can build a list around trading the guy we get for Allen.

Wouldn't be racing to cut HEdwards yet. Understand the need for list churn but think we're too thin at KPD to do that. If Buss comes in that's a different story, sure.

MSD watchers, with Long out we're surely hitting the MSD despite Simmo giving off the "don't get too excited" vibes a few weeks ago. Who does that leave us with?
Just a cut and paste from a previous post as my view hasn’t changed but if The Age report is correct and North are indeed taking Scaife at pick 1 then that ensures either Hopkins or Howes are available at pick 3 (unless we upset the Crows). Trey Ruscoe not nominating (to date) is interesting too.

I still think in order we should take if available:
  1. Ben Hopkins 18 190cm Dandenong HBF
  2. Noah Howes 18 196cm Sth Adelaide KPF
  3. Will McLachlan 19 185cm Geelong HFF
I expect Noah Howes to be taken by one of North or Richmond ahead of us but he could be available. Other players possibly in the conversation are:
  1. Wil Patton 19 192cm West Adelaide HBF
  2. Jacob Blight 22 196cm Peel KPD
  3. Jasper Scaife 19 197cm West Perth KPF
  4. Joe Pike 19 204cm Geelong Ruck
  5. Jack Hutchinson 22 190cm C’Wood HFF
There’s also a number of mids and mid/fwds that went undrafted last year that are a chance to be selected by other teams (and us if we’re set on taking a mid):

Tarkyn O’Leary 18 178cm Sandringham
Kade De La Rue 18 183cm Dandenong
Dayten Uerata 18 185cm Bendigo
Oskar Smartt 18 180cm Bendigo

I still think in order we should take if available:
  1. Ben Hopkins 18 190cm Dandenong HBF
  2. Noah Howes 18 196cm Sth Adelaide KPF
  3. Will McLachlan 19 185cm Geelong HFF
I know hes probably the number 2 on best available talent, but man if we get yet another young KPF idk what to think.
Howes would bring us up to 8 guys we view as at least mainly KPFs, 4 of them in their first 3 years of footy so probably too early to be trading them

Re Rotham - he is the one we want to play well enough to land a band 3 compo for as a UFA.

Replace with Ruscoe as a DFA in the 2024 draft period. Depth 3rd tall retained and we get a pick.

Anyone else noticed Culley's position stated on the clubs site? No longer a mid status but key forward status. We are loaded with tall forwards. Allen, Waterman, Darling, Maric, J Williams, A Reid plus B Williams we want to play as a forward ruck.

Culley plus our 2024 2nd for Baker? Won't be a popular move I know but we have so many tall forwards, how does Culley get a game?

Future 2nd for Busslinger.

In: 1st Draper / FOS
Busslinger
Baker
Champion (bid matched)
Ruscoe DFA

And the FA compo pick for Rotham we use on?

And end 2025 we go all in to land Warner and get him in the guts with Reid,, Ginbey, Kelly, Hewett, (Draper/FOS) and Yeo's last season in 2026.

There was a quick comment Simmo made in a presser or maybe it was a schodown a couple of weeks ago too about it being hard to fit Culley into our forward line, so I think thats definitely where the club sees him

Do we think we would be keen on any free agents this year? Rotham going via FA while picking up somebody else means we get nothing for Rotham. Probably doesnt matter as we probably only get a 4th round pick or delist him anyway.
An Isaac Cumming or Perryman would be amazing but admittedly they are long shots

Honestly? I’m 100% certain Hopkins is going to be available with our pick and I really, really hope we take him. His form over the last 12 months has been strong and he (and Travaglia) plays the role we are lacking the most. BOND 007 has said the kid can play and now it’s confirmed we have a pick I hope to see him in Eagles colours next Wednesday. Will be a slow burn but that’s not dissimilar to most MSD prospects.

Tbh I would have thought Ruscoe would have been the perfect kind of pick for us - can play anywhere on the ground (including in the position Long has left open) but apparently he hasn't nominated for the MSD

MSD would we be interested in Matt Ling?

25 yrs old left foot HB.

Quick rebounder with a good kick. Lions likely keen with several picks.

The other who Im intrigued with is Oskar Smartt. A little meat ball at 180cm and 83kgs when you were allowed to report it. Mid / forward who tackles hard and with goal sense. Like the sound of how he plays and defends. He's sounds like Long and is that HF/Mid rotation. Vic Country kid too.

Really hope Ruscoe hasnt nominated. That IMO indicates an agreement has been made.

I love Yeo, he’s been awesome this year. But I don’t see the end game here in keeping him. His price is as high as it’s going to get. I just don’t have the faith that he’s ever going to stay injury free and be around for our next true tilt.

We refused to let any stars go in recent years and instead loaded up the credit card with Kelly. Might be time give one back.

Especially if someone like Liam Baker is keen. Might be an easy swap for us and get another 7 years out of Baker.

I just doubt Yeo would want to leave. Seems too loyal

There is no direct trade for Baker. I.e. Richmond you take yeo and we take baker.

We get a compensation pick on whatever the vAFL concots in their secret herbs and spices.

There is no guarantee that Baker wants to move or that the compensation pick is sufficient to acquire Baker if he does want to come to us.

I think the only way we get Baker is a player trade. They wouldn’t want Yeo and I wouldn’t want to trade him. With Gibcus out with an ACL and they lose Rioli to GCS as I expect maybe Rotham is appealing, they can pay him whatever they want for the compo pick then trade the pick and another player back to them for Baker.
