What is this nonsense 😆
Which means more picks lol And he's tall, athletic and can run. Has good skills. Those type of players have the potential to skyrocket. And they think he has the potential to get a bid before mcguane is kinda scary..

I tracked him a little a number of years ago, but then he popped up again last year. Now there is big wraps on him.

I think old mate from Fox Sports is trying to win a creative writing competition tbh. If we genuinely had a potential first round NGA KPP in addition to McGuane we’d have had way more media attention about it by now.

I think Ben Waterworth is pretty good with the draft talks. Clearly has chatted to some scouts from last weekends games
But he's playing this weekend so looking forward to see how he goes.

The wraps on him probably started with his coach who mentioned he was one to watch out for after his huge preseason with the pies.

Collingwood father-son candidate Oscar Lonie (son of Ryan) showed improvement from his three appearances in 2024, posting 16 touches and five tackles

The Magpies and Saints had more players to watch in the Sandringham-Western clash. Thomas McGuane – the son of Pies champion Mick – had little trouble racking up possessions. He filled his boots with 28 disposals, five marks, and five clearances in a typically classy display from midfield.

So, we're going to have to choose between McGuane and Mcarthy?
You'd hope not. That we would find a way to get both. If both can be 2nd rounders, that would be nice. But either way, we'll need to do some work to gain more points.

Shame the system changed just when it starts to benefit us.

It would be very exciting for us if young Zac did turn into a genuine top prospect by the end of the year, but (as suggested by another poster just up the page a bit) this does seem an incredibly rapid rise to fame! If he stars in the early Talent League games for Oakleigh and makes it into the Vic Metro squad for the National Championships maybe we should start getting excited, but surely it's way too early to be worrying about whether or not we can recruit him, when all that's really happened is that he's apparently had a good pre-season and his coach has mentioned him as a prospect (along with a heap of others from the same team)!

Having said all that I hope he comes out and dominates his first game this weekend! We all know McGuane should be on our list next year, but it would be fun to have another decent youngster tied to us who's worth following in 2025.

It is early, and I wouldn't have had this kind of rise especially without playing a game; but would be a nice surprise. But hard for us to say, clearly scouts have seen stuff through pre-season to think he could be a bolter this year.
He plays tomorrow. The game will be on the app. Game starts at 1:30pm

I'm waiting for the club to update the NGA page on the website. Its been taken down for now, clearly working on a new version. I suspect once it gets put back up we'll see a bunch of new names on the list.

Is it possible you actually miss out on FS/NGA players tied to you due to lack of points? Or do you just inflict heavier deficits on next years picks?

I think freo was the last time someone went into deficit from an nga bid. It rarely happens, as clubs generally make sure they find enough points. If you want the player(s) you at worst case, just go into deficit for the following year.

But we'll cross that bridge if we get to it. At the moment we have the worst points in the league. (505) so some moving will need to be done and trading.

The BF hivemind would be in overdrive by now if this were genuine. Hopefully he proves to be first round quality AFTER we nab him

If he turns in to a genuine first round selection I’m not going to complain, but the mild panic being induced here by an article that says some scouts think he might get an early bid is a bit lol worthy.
Feels very much like a bait post tbh.

Before any footy has even been played to back up the claims. Not getting my hopes up.

Despite all this being very preliminary, it’s better to have a talk around a potential first who could be the goods rather than to have no discussion and no one who potentially fits the bill.

Does the AFL stream Coates Talent League games?
Just the coates league app unfortunately. They have one game a week they stream on the HS website collab with Kommunity TV. They will stream an oakleigh game May 18 a western Jets game June 1, dandy v oakleigh June 14
another oakleigh game July 6, then a jets v geelong game in round 15 then a final dandy game in August.

Don’t think it would be too hard. Can trade in a future second. Trade an existing player for a second etc.
At this stage we don’t seem likely to attract a bid in top 15 for any of them so it shouldn’t be too tricky.
Jon Ralph will make it sound impossible though given the flog he is

Agree. Clubs generally know how to work this stuff out if needed. I expect a lot of pick trading in the trade period.

If Maynard really has been offered $1m per for five or six years, he’d be crazy to knock it back. That would be at least and end-of-first coming back as compo.

Twomey and North have stated they would not offer $1M and no more than 4 years
This forced the HUN click baiters to retract their story
