Apologies I think I made a mistake re Cameron out of bounds. If Maclean touched the ball first then its not a free kick. Only a free kick if Cameron got the hit out first and no one else touched it.
One question on this, was Maclean the closest and thus entitled to the free? Or does it get awarded to the opposing ruck?

Just thinking back to the 2011 granny when Bartel was allowed to take the kick and goaled from the pocket (shudder).

Nah. Injury is the only thing that will get Cox a game.
Assistant coach before the game disagrees with you.

He was very clear that they are worried about DC carrying the full load week in/out.

Said that throughout the year (off short break etc) they will run a 50/50 split to reduce his load.

Which is absolutely what I want them to do at stages to make sure DC is good to go.
He’s been enormous.

It would make sense for it to the opposing ruckman but it's probably whoever is closest.

Did you notice how silent Dunstall went during the last qtr?

I'd almost forgotten Gerard was also commentating because he couldn't get a word in during the first 3 qtrs between Lyon & Dunstall going on & on about the Swans & wanted they needed to do to win.

Yep basically trying to coach Sydney to a win these two 🤡 it’s laughable how this is allowed

This is a shocking rule when the ball up is so close to the boundary. Brings back bad memory from the 2011 GF 2nd quarter.

Had just mentioned this and then saw your post. The Jolly tap out actually hit the line. It is a sickening memory.

The structure around the middle was the strongest I've seen in a long time. In recent times I don't think we have been clearence kings with alot of rushed looks and snaps out of packs, but last night was a great example of using our strengths and positioning the right players to extract and then receive for a much more poised entry forward.

LOL.....of course they would say that. They are desperate to finding solace from anywhere considering the shite their club has found itself in this season. So they thinking that we're really not that good, makes them feel better, but we know that train of thought is just deluded....
They’re not going to get any solace watching us this year. Only pain.

Lyon was the only commentator last night singing Collingwoods praises.he was fine.

I’ve no problem with Lyon. When we’re good, he says we’re good. I miss him as the anchor on On The couch. It’s lost its edge without Garry.

In the end Ned proved an upgrade on De Goey. Mcrae has said he's always surprised to see him as the sub. He'll be getting a solid block of games if he keeps playing like tonight.
That's how you get a block of games - by performing. You don't get it just by being young.

Never seen Macrae, Allan, Sier, Wills or the Brown brothers do what Ned did last night.

How good can Ned be? This felt like more than a fortunate game / flash in the pan.
Yeah no flash in the pan. It was a continuation of his form line.

He’s trending upwards and showing traits that will hold up.

Apart from his strength over the ball, he’s clean. One touch inside mids are gold.

And as Cripps has shown for a decade, it helps if you're so big that they struggle to stop you getting a handball away.

Ned was superb last night - the way he can stand up in tackles and still get the ball away is great.
He takes a bit of heat away from Nick.
If we can get a similar breakthrough game from Ed Allan soon, our midfield will be set for a decade, then Tom McGuane to come in as well.
Beau and Bobby were excellent, which is good news, as both have been a little quiet up to last night.
Big Billy did a great job, and in so doing, freed up Darcy to do what he does best.
Pez is just quietly getting it done every week.
The MMMs are working together beautifully - Skunk did some excellent linkup work up the ground.
Billy kicking 3 was a nice tuneup for his 200th game next week.
There is nothing more to add about Pendles and Sidey - both brilliant.
DC in his 100th game was outstanding again - on track to be AA ruckman.

In all, it was a great team performance, and our most consistent and complete game so far this season.

Go Pies!!!!
