If you don't rate him good, it only means you're not much of a judge. It's a bad Jets team so I'd be waiting for the rep footy before going off with any ill informed opinions.
I think he was simply saying he didn’t have a good game. From the half I watched I agree, I don’t know how he played in the second half. That said they were dominated around the ground and it was tough going. His team mates turned the ball over constantly

What did you think of his game today?
It’s alright. You made it clear - “performance hasn't done a lot for me”. Well I thought so anyway. Not one of his best.

Unless you are bludging, and playing a kick behind play, you need to run to position - which becomes the wrong position, if your team mates drop chest marks and pass to the opposition.

Apart from Bunton, Coleman and NDaicos most footballers don’t star at a young age, and just keep improving.

and 1st game of the Season.

So I would not be taking too much notice yet

When you’re more outside than inside it makes it tougher.

This is more a general comment, but I’m personally hoping he doesn’t need others around him to be of better quality in order to stand out (as has been suggested he will do with Metro). The best ones aren’t built like that and they just step up no matter who they have around them.

I didn't really mind Carl saying I was a poor judge, he's more than likely right. I had more of an issue with the tone trying to shut down the conversation after what was a very mild criticism. It's pretty boring if people aren't willing to give their take just because a player is tied to us and we badly want them to make it.

Fwiw, on the plus side, when Tom got the ball today I though he was calm, made good decisions, and used it pretty well.

My queries were, he played an extremely outside game and became visibly frustrated with his teammates not giving him use, despite not trying to win it himself. I'd love to see him develop his inside game a bit more because I feel his pretty obvious physical limitations, namely pace and acceleration, might make it tough to play a outside role at the next level.

Not putting a line through him yet, Carl.

I didn't watch it but I have seen him play last year and WAS impressed. All anyone needs to know is the 34 was left open on the playing list, that speaks volumes more than keyboard warriors who need to be impressed.
Chill out. Someone gave an opinion on how he played today. Didn't extrapolate beyond that. That's it. Full stop. If you didn't see the game, what are you up in arms about?

The bolded is exactly what I noticed as well. I’m sure he will have better games. The amount of turn overs his teammates made (not him) made it very hard
