Yeah not a fan of it. Cox in the presser today kept bringing up Banfield as a Voss replacement. So we’re not really spoiled for choice if they don’t want to shuffle magnets.

Honestly I’d have more confidence in Banfield rucking than Reidy and that tells you all you need to know.

We do match up against them well, especially away but I think you're right.

Its hard to imagine a team with their talent and relatively recent success could plummet to 0-6 with a handful of stars on their list still.

It's just good to have him around the group. Plus I think this hamstring injury is on the extreme minor end, he seemed to think he could keep playing after he did it, was doing run throughs.

There is a sneaky chance he plays but I don't think they'll take any risk. Strong chance he is in vs Adelaide.

Tall defenders are important against Adelaide. If there are any injury concerns for Cox or Ryan, both of whom looked a little proppy, MacDonald is an interesting inclusion as a swing man.

MacDonald hangs around forward, then does a bit of 2nd ruck. If needed, he drops back into defence, but in reality Melbourne doesn't have the talls to necessitate that.

Even Darcy struggles against him so no matter who we play as a second ruck they are going to get monstered.

Best to develop a plan to minimise the clearances of Trac and Oliver and get some of his taps ourselves.

But yeah you're right. Was thinking the same thing about it being good having him around the group.

If Nat is sidelined long term, I reckon it would be a good idea to have him recover in the same capacity around the main group as well. Could only do well for the motivational side of things, we all know how hard he works.

Viney is very washed, Petracca is rotting in the forward line to make space inside for guys like Sparrow and Langdon, and Oliver hasn’t reached his pre-bender levels outside of a couple half games here and there

We have been pretty good against the dees because we take away one of their biggest strengths, the ruck

I guess ruckman all over the AFL would be horrified to think justanyone can do their job, but it seems to be happening more and more.

In our game versus Geelong this year, Patrick Dangerfield took Ruck duties versus Jackson and Dangerfield won.

So i guess maybe anyone can do it.

Personally i would prefer to bring in Reidy to blood him more. He can play footy or he wouldnt be in the Reserves team either. maybe not good enugh yet for AFL. but agisnt Melbourne it is an ok time to bring him in.

Use him off the bench maybe and rest Darcy there when needed. Might limit some rotations. but we really need to get our next replacement ruckman lined up.

Cox was cramping a lot during the game, I had a funny feeling he was going to get injured. I don't know if his body has the durability to go in the ruck, he still seems a bit raw from last year

Realistically the obvious option is we are going to go with Reidy this week and hope Jackson is good to go next week

Reidy will never play as a second ruck for us again. He will only play first ruck if Darcy and Jackson are out and we need someone to take the majority of the ruck. You don’t bring a guy who is pretty much useless at everything else to just chop out for 30% of the time in the ruck
