Yea or allow Bergs to float more and intercept. Still has a role on the mobile guys like Cameron, Sicily, etc. Probably allows us to rest guys like Moraes who will need a spell. Not a change for the game against Swans, but if we get BZT back in 3 weeks without any more injuries it'll be very interesting. Esava imo has been surprisingly good since he's come back. Do we play 3 tall backs and push Bergman into midfield?
That's what happened after the game against the Cats last year, where we nearly blew a 10 goal lead and then found ourselves 40 odd points down against the Hawks the following week before we made a comeback. We will start this match exactly the same way we finished against Hawthorn.

It has to be Boak, even in that first half when everyone was on song, Boak seemed a bit out of touch. It makes sense for him to be sub given where his career is and where we areDBJ for Berry will be the only change. Not sure who subs. Hopefully not Cochrane.
Boak was already managed the other week I would do moraes to give him a rest he has looked completely spent the last two weeks. But sinn sub could also work as he has also been average the last two. But also boak had a very good last quarter and was one of the main factors that stopped the late charge. He looked good when he was in the cba's, and had 3 clearances and score involvements in that quarter. But also whos to say that dbj can't be sub. If bergman plays dbj sub works well as if bergman knocks whatever he did again dbj can play backline or forward. He was also gash against st kildaIt has to be Boak, even in that first half when everyone was on song, Boak seemed a bit out of touch. We started pretty strongly against the Swans in the Prelim.Even after the semi final win against Hawthorn, we were terrible against the Swans in the prelim.
That and our complete regression to the bomb it long and hope gameplan, absolutely squandering about a quarter and a half of midfield dominance. We started pretty strongly against the Swans in the Prelim.
Kicked the first goal and were easily cutting off their attacking moves. It was only a bunch of unforced errors that let the Swans into the game.
My only rebuttal to that is that Boak over the last 2 years has seemed way more effective in 1 or 2 quarters in a game rather than a full game. My opinion is that he's way better in bursts rather than a full game. In addition to that, he brings some leadership on the bench so can be someone that talks to the younger ones and act as an extra coach from the bench.Boak was already managed the other week I would do moraes to give him a rest he has looked completely spent the last two weeks. Fair enough, although the boak burst on the weekend was because he got moved in the cba's not just randomMy only rebuttal to that is that Boak over the last 2 years has seemed way more effective in 1 or 2 quarters in a game rather than a full game. DBJ wasn't that bad against Saints, in fact he played a defensive role on Sinclair for the first 3 quarters and did well and then for some reason the tag was removed and Sinclair scored the sealer.
Moraes maybe to give him a break but would bring him back in week after
This tells me that you have a personal vendetta against him because I could name other pointless selections if you think DBJ is pointless. The hate he gets here is astounding. He was arguably our best forward last year statistically after Georgiades and is a good kick inside 50. I'd drop Boak before DBJI’m shocked at the number of peeps who think DBJ is worth playing….he is the most pointless selection we could make outside of McEntee.
Keep running with the kids in the small forward roles.
Think of it like this - do Cochrane or Berry give us 60-70% of the DBJ output currently? And has either shown the potential to get to >100% of his output? Then how likely is it DBJ at 30 years old this year is in our next premiership tilt v the other two? This tells me that you have a personal vendetta against him because I could name other pointless selections if you think DBJ is pointless. Cochrane or Berry do not give us 60% of DBJ's output. He had the most goals and score assists for us last year, bar Georgiades maybe. Berry has not shown much if we're being really honest. I don't disagree with your point of trying and finding out more about players. But saying DBJ is a pointless selection is a hyperbole. Imo, prioritising youth is important, but we need to find out first if the win on the weekend was an anomaly. If we lose all games till Round 9 then yeah, I'd say let's give the youngsters a go for rest of the year because finals would look impossible from then. But if we play like we did last night, especially first half, I can see us beating most teams. The win last night may have been sparked by emotions, but structurally there were some major changes that we need to see more of before starting to prioritise games into kids. Maybe I'd have a different perspective if we still held out first round pick, but I'm not going to give Suns another freebieThink of it like this - do Cochrane or Berry give us 60-70% of the DBJ output currently? The same logic applies to Boak with respect to Moraes / Burgoyne.
We’ve basically got a free hit season to learn something about the list and to hopefully fast track some development for guys that will be around when our top end is at their absolute peak.
Stop using logicAnother side note I want to make, I looked at training times at Alberton this week. It's all 7am to 12pm.
If we play Sydney at 3pm, shouldn't we be training like 1pm to 6pm? Surely that gets the boys in a rhythm during the week on what time of the day to perform?
