Is that true about Kennedy? I never saw any reports about that. Either way its a big yikes for the Blues for him to be wanting out, when you see the efforts from Thursday night there is no way Kennedy should be outside that 23...
Kennedy was playing half forward for us because Hewett and Cerra added more to the midfield.

Wanted to play more mid minutes so he asked to go.

Funny though, up until the minute he left apparently he was a spud who was lucky to be playing AFL...

I simply do not understand cutting depth like Owies and Kennedy out of the side, especially Kennedy.

I'll explain the situation for opposition fans - disclaimer: I'm not defending these moves, just explaining that it's more complex than simply cutting them for nothing.

Kennedy:
  • Contracted with Carlton til end of 2025.
  • In exit interview, stated to Voss he wanted more midfield minutes
  • Was told we couldn't guarantee that, as he's behind Cripps & Hewett for that role, but he's valued as a utility
  • Mutual agreement reached where he is welcome to look around
  • WB offered him a 3 year contract & midfield spot
  • With a recent newborn, how could he possibly turn that down?
  • Requested trade

Maybe Carlton were too nice and should've held him to his contract with us. Maybe we should've put him in front of Hewett, at the very least we should've asked for more - but how could we? He wanted out & he was mostly depth for us.

Owies:
- Had the required currency that was needed to get pick 3.

That's all there is to that one.

And you know this... How?
Have you seen the Blues TPP and how they've gotten there?

What did you pay Curnow?

I don't really recall comparing Cripps to your figjam captain in that post sorry.
It's completely relevant though. I fear you're being delusional about what Cripps will bring over the next few years. He's slow and poorly skilled. One dimensional. Not good in an attacking sense but can't play as a rebounding sweeper either.

I think the best comparison that I've come up with, is Selwood. Both players play/played an extreme 'crash and bash' style, that is mostly inside and winning hard ball. Sel played until he was 34, which is about where I see Cripps going to. Slowed down at around 32 though, as the amount of wear and tear that kind of play has, makes it harder to have the longevity of someone like Pendlebury.

Still in his prime now, but was genuinely surprised to see he's already hit 30.

What he said it absolutely spot on though. Cant just insult and belittle every oppo player when truth bombs hit. I'm sure were in for a "Nicky" again now. At least most of us have the respect to praise Cripps' positives but see the shortcomings in his game and try and point them out without trying to windmill our dicks

Yeah I'd agree that Selwood a far better comparison than one of the most explosive athletes to ever play AFL

Selwood is a better comparison. Much better field kick though and decision maker with ball in hand. He definitely slowed down the last couple of years and had his time on ground massively reduced.

Truth bombs... Interesting way to put it

Is Cripps extremely explosive/agile, a long and damaging kick, capable up forward, highly skilled or an expert reader of the game? Some of these attributes are what kept Dangerfield, Selwood and Pendlebury at a high level for so long.

Bont has more of these qualities than Cripps so is much more likely to play to a high level for the next handful of years.

Hes not poorly skilled. His hands are elite and his kicking has improved, and he’s ok around goals.

He could do stints down fwd with bursts in the middle. He’d be good down forward but he’s always had to do the heavy lifting in the midfield, so he’s rarely been used down there for an extended period. We prefer to use him in the ruck…

Nah Cripps has been one of the best players in the comp over the last 3 years because he was tall and thats all

Geez I reckon you’re being harsh.

You don’t win 2 Brownlows and 4 AA’s without being an expert reader of the game. Come on.

He's been a contested animal and a stoppage beast - absolutely no doubt about that.

Expert reader of the game requires a bit more, i.e the nous to win the footy, hurt the opposition and defend once that contested ability isn't at its peak. Think Pendlebury, Black, S.Mitchell.

**** me you're the only campaigner on here that cant see the forest for the trees sometimes and then piss yourself laughing at others that do. Were not saying shit to stir sometimes
As I said, if you actually posted anything unworthy of a laugh I'd respond to it fairly. Just like ShadowCats post above which I had no issue with. When you spend 99% of your time on here calling every Carlton player s*** there's really no reason I'd ever consider your opinion anything but partisan drivel. Exactly the same as I assume you perceive most of my posts.

You say we need a full rebuild... I ask you why... You give me a list of players you think are s*** and say the club sucks and needs to blow it all up...

There's really no point in a thoughtful response.

I've posted many times before that I'm confident the club will turn things around soon, you just disagree with that. Simple as that.

Old fossil dick proved that for us against these legends last Thursday
