So far all I've gotten from the posts on this thread from the much appreciated "neutrals" is that every player at the club including Cripps is dreadful, our boards a mess, coach can't coach, VFL team is in shambles and there's no hope for any part of our club whatsoever.

The future is bright down at Ikon Park!

Carlton remind me of that one turd that floats in the toilet and you just can't flush it away.
Just enough buoyancy to not completely sink, but at the end of the day it is still a piece of shit.

Can't wait to hear the excuses when they end up 0-5 after this week.
Speaking of floating turds, isn't your club lobbying for a priority pick this year?

Drafting and recruitment is the main problem. Since 2019 they’ve picked up these players through the draft.

Kemp is a decent player, while Durdin and Motlop and Moir have potential. The rest bar the new draftees are questionable.

17- Kemp
20- Philip
47- Ramsay
37- Durdin
41- Carroll
27- Motlop
32- Binns
47- Lemney
29- Moir
34- Wilson
3- Smith
40- O’Farrell
43- B.Campoerale
54- L.Campoerale

These are the recycled players they’ve recruited in the same time frame. I’d say only Pittonet, Saad, Cerra, Hewett, Hollands and Acres have been of any use.

Eddie Betts- Adelaide
Marc Pittonet- Hawthorn
Jack Newnes- St Kilda
Jack Martin- Gold Coast
Callum Moore- Richmond
Lachlan Fogarty- Geelong
Adam Saad- Essendon
Zac Williams- GWS
Oscar McDonald- Melbourne
Adam Cerra- Fremantle
George Hewett- Sydney
Lewis Young- Western Bulldogs
Will Hayes-Western Bulldogs
Sam Durdin- North Melbourne
Blake Acres- Fremantle
Elijah Hollands- Gold Coast
Orazio Fantasia- Port Adelaide
Nick Haynes- GWS
Francis Evans- Port Adelaide

I saw Jordan Boyd was listed as playing ok in the VFL.

Any chance the weapon will be unleashed at AFL level this week?
I doubt it. Carlton's young players are left to wither on the vine and then discarded. Meanwhile the spuds playing firsts are allowed to continually spud it up with no consequences. It defies all logic.

Acres, Hewett, Boyd, Elijah, Cottrell, Newman, Cincotta and Lord (looks to be on his way but still fairly fresh to the AFL program) would be the only real 'finds' with late picks via draft or trade for us of late.

I suspect Carroll will jump into that bracket soon enough for us but he's yet to debut for the time being so can't really say that with any certainty.
[I am talking about drafted guys only]

Cottrell perhaps, the others are all traded guys who ones who have barely played if at all.

Get the drafting right and it would help go a long way to arresting that depth issue Carlton currently has.

Boyd is 26, not even a young player.

That's right, we signed a 22yo as a mid-season pick, eased him in, signed him to a 2-year contract at aged 25, and are now playing him in the VFL.

FWIW the idea that Voss doesn't give young blokes a chance is a bit of a myth imo.

Hollands, Cowan, Motlop, Kemp, Durdin have all had decent runs of it when they probably deserved a spell. Same goes with Dow, O'Brien in the past. He's playing Lord when he can, he's got his deficiencies but he does play kids - whether or not they are properly developed is a different conversation.

Nah but Boyd has nice attributes. He's an above average kick, can promise you that.

But we use him as a lockdown defender - eg he always gets the job on Toby Green.

We also either don't use him enough (under instruction) or he's awful at finding the footy. He needs a big year or he will be delisted at the end of his contract.

You've got to be clearer and more consistent about when footywire stats matter, and when they don't...
Never used footywire stats before to evaluate a game. You're obsession with Footywire is crazy. To evaluate a performance you need to watch the game - stats support observations. You can't use stats alone to draw conclusions

Not at all similar considering I watched every game from Hollands in 2024. So season stat averages being used to support my observations of his effectiveness as a player. It's not me seeing the stats of a game I didn't watch and judging performance based solely on stats.

Unless you watched every single players kick from defensive 50 in 2024, that's exactly what you were doing when referencing Boyd's kicking (relative to the whole comp). How would you determine if he was an exceptional kick based on your above conditions? You wouldn't have a reference point.

Champion Data ranked him as the best kick from D50 at that point in the season is what was said. That is true. It's not my conclusion it's Champion data's view based on kick rating.

My own opinion is that Kane Farrell and Braeden Campbell are the two best kicks in the AFL. Given Farrell plays in defence he would probably me the best kick from D50 in my eyes.
