Any further info..... woudl be interested in anyone thoughts of the early indicatations

Ajax were out the box quickly and made use of the 5 goal breeze in the opening term.

SKOB got better as the match went on and it was pretty much even for the next three quarters. Quite a few missing as well I believe.

Ajax used the footy very well through the coridoor and look like improving on last years finish.

Wouldnt worry about praccy match form, especially the first one.

CArmberwell beat Ormond by 2 goals, Robbins with seven, Ormond apparently full strength, OC at around 50%.

Hi Brian,

Ormond also at approx 50%. Around a dozen who will line up rnd 1 didn't play. Can't comment on OC as I didn't see them in '08. Pretty much means nothing at this stage but just wanted to make the point that Ormond nowhere near 100% Only saw the 2nd & 3rd 1/4's, an OK game played on a magnificent surface, a credit to Old Ment's.

Sounds like Robbins will be worth going to watch this year.

One would have thought that robbins, martinov, keleher( both state reps last year) are probably close to the best three players and they all played. May have had 12 out but the best three were certainly there and played most of the game. Camberwell's outs included many of their top ten not just their best 22( or bottom 10 of that group)

Didn't robbins kick 7 goals?

Fair player.

Briza, I am sure you are looking forward to catching up with Bedford!!

praccy matches about as insightful as NAB cup games

rovers rusty but good signs, youngest side we've put out in as long as ive been at the club.. only about half a dozen over 22 yrs old

All valid points Sausage, its the next best 10 players on any club's list who have been sending clubs up & down the grades since before Moses began shaving. OC & Ormond also have quality reserves sides that have played in GF's regularly over the past few seasons which doesn't hurt either. Probably why the 2 OC's stayed in B, good depth to call on.

NO , thats not what I meant.

I was talking about the importance of the top three players in your side.

Ormond would not have won last year without Robbins...clearly the difference.

Not sure if you aleady have but probably better off posting on lower divisions HELLS. Based upon rep stuff you might find more luck from D1 onwards.

Good luck in 2009

Old Carey v North Heidelberg
A very understrength Old Carey had a good hitout against Nth Heidelberg. Lost by two goals. Harvey kicked about 7 for North. Looks like plenty of depth at Carey this year. I know Howat, Rowe, Freemantle and Evans were definitely missing

Understrength or OVERWEIGHT?

I thoughtt OC looked very good, but what did the CHF and FP eat over the pre-season?....Fiji? Need to go more direct as they seem to waste possession on the outside and lacked penetration hitting the top of square from HF. Big grounds may find them out.

Very good midfield that cut pieces out of NH who were very slow and underdone - spectator reckons they were virtually full strength.

OC I think will be very good this year and after a soft 1st half in '08 need to ensure they are right up there early in the season.

Ormond defeated Ajax yesterday at Mentone Grammar playing fields. Not sure of the exact scoreline, but 2-4 goals was the margin.
