I did not realise Draper is an unrestricted free agent.
It takes the decision out of our hands to a certain degree.
If he stays I wonder if there would be a chance to move parish on and bring in James Worpel?
You would be likely to get only a second round pick for parish but you would aim to get his salary off the books.
I prefer worpel because he is an inside contest midfielder whereas Darcy is a bit inside out who is ordinary by foot.
Worpel as a big bull who could let Durham and merrett play less inside and support Caldwell. Worpel can also play as a defensive midfielder which is useful.
If Draper leaves we obviously cannot chase a Worley as it would dilute our compensation for Draper.
I also think Adam Sweid will play in a similar manner to Darcy Parish.
Hawthorn may have to sacrifice Worley to pay for an Oscar Allen

Apparently we are keeping tabs on Liam MCMahon and Tom McCarthy had a second interview recently I have been told
They are probably the best of the bunch available.
There are few impactful 19 year old players at Coates league.
Burmiester has athleticism but is football dumb.
Rod Ali is an exciting prospect as a medium defender. He looks to have some upside.
Connor Evans has elite kicking skills.
Zac Walker is an intercept defender who plays a role we are ok in.

Honestly I think our intercept medium is a clear area we struggle with when Ridley's injured

Please tell more about Connor Evans.
182cm.Defender / midfield. Good skills. Long kick. Good enough overhead for his size. Sometimes gets a run through the midfield. Solid build for a small bloke. Likes to attack and intercept.

Neither are really "intercept" defenders in the Ridley/Sicily/Mackie mould by my viewing.

I mean I have said multiple times that Ridley should play small and we should run with 3 of Reid/McKay/Cox/Hayes and Ridley but Johnson and Clarke are both nice and rangy and can give you a bit of aerial coverage while playing as a functional small.

Having said that I suspect Johnson may work his way into the middle pretty shortly.

Sorry to ask mate pretty new to the Big Footy Dons community

I know of EPS but are you also in the recruiting space?

I dont mean anything rude just asking
Only on the periphery these days- barely a blimp on the radar
I use to be more involved before covid and family commitments
I have probably watched too much 18s footy so far this year but have had some family help
I have never worked for the bombers but I have supported the club since I was a little kid

Thanks mate sorry for the odd question wish i could watch as well

Really respect anyone who watches the 18 and u18 footy and takes the time to speak to footy community

Sorry to ask but what are your thoughts on maybe going for someone like Josh Lindsay and a KF prospect in this years upcoming draft?

Josh Lindsay is classy. I like to see how his type go at nationals.
I rhink big Archie from Sandy can play.
Cooper Tyler Duff has talents which are rare but I want to see him mark the footy more than he does.
I do agree to an extent with the fact of needing another bigger body with a bit of pace in the midfield Greeves looks awesome but his foot skills seem to be ok at best
Sorry pretty sure you bring up a point about this in another thread that is something we lack

Archie does look good i really like the look of him and its his stuff without the ball i really like chasing tackling and forward pressure but looks to have a good set shot as well

Lindsay would add that foot class that i think we need a bit more of but its really early days like you said

Is Lindsay in that Caleb Windsor / Xavier Lindsay mould?

Really like the sound of a young, elite runner who could potentially start at half back and move up to the wing in year 3 or 4.

Im curious if we make a contracted or unpopular list change or alternatively trade out any of our top 30 picks into next years draft.

List spots are really tight, with our draft hand at the moment (4 picks inside 30) and the two NGA guys looming as top 50 selections, we'd likely need 6 list spots for the senior list if we are to make use of them all.

Im 50:50 on Dylan Shiel, Will Setterfield, Jayden Laverde, Harry Jones, Tom Edwards, Jaxon Prior and Joe Menzie.

Draper staying is absolutely paramount now. If he were to garner a band 1 (follow our own 1st) or band 2 (end of first round) compensation then makes list spots even tighter.

This is why I want Tsatas to have a consistent run at it. He's a one-position player who will still have some trade value because he's young, but I'd trade him if necessary.

Jones, Perkins and Parish are others I'd be looking at. Shiel is a watch and act.
