Found it interesting reading today that the Hawks pulled all their AFLW players out of the finals games to prepare them for upcoming season. Assume pre season must have already started.
Preseason started 3 weeks ago but the draft was only four days ago, so the draftees and VFLW players have had different schedules. Draftees still doing year 12 will have different schedules anyway because the season starts before exams. I think a couple of others have had to move interstate and such with pre-season starting only shortly after the trade period too, so there's been a lot of things that they're working around with a part-time league.

What a tragic injury. Feel for her. It’s one thing to get an injury in a normal
GF win but the promotion aspect makes it so different.

She should be very proud of what she has accomplished this year and how much the string team culture and performance will have helped the careers of a number of teammates.

Gold Coast pulled someone from East Fremantle from their finals campaign which I found interesting.

Quote from Woody regarding AFL signed players being allowed to play finals:

"It's always a risk when we put our players out there to play through the [VFLW] finals. But it was something that we considered, you know, them playing in big games and having that opportunity to play in high pressure situations and continue to hone their craft," Essendon head coach Natalie Wood said at Monday's fixture announcement.

"It's terribly unfortunate for Georgia and made yesterday quite bittersweet."

Other side is training with AFL players would be more beneficial, especially with such a short pre season.

Can completely understand the desire to run out and finish what she started with the VFL team, fairly emphatic, history-making season and would have felt compelled to cap it off. Rotten luck to say the least (and hindsight is always 20/20), but on the bright side we already have the best 2023 season debutant locked in.

The worst fears of going for the VFLW flag have come true - Personally I think they should have pulled players, but can understand they want to finish a couple of years of good work.

It is terrible luck however Georgia had to play due to there always being a risk of her doing the knee in AFLW R1.

Assuming the Cornish captain still has a role with the club, do we anticipate Georgia working with the midfield and assisting the coaches like how Kyle Langford helped out when he was injured?

I'd anticipate Nanscawen to do much better than Langford. We were terrible with him "helping out", and have been much better since he stopped.
