Good to watch, not sure he can make it long term, high ceiling though.....

What are you looking for in a long term player? Boring to watch? Low Ceiling?
Some people are being pretty tough on the kid. The best part about today is that he got under the skin of the opposition, and put them off their game - never mind his extraordinary stroke play.

I don't think it's slowed down it's just only every so often you get a number of 150km plus types at Test level, then there are guys capable of pushing that speed in certain spells etc. but hang more in the 140km range.

I reckon Jeff Thomson is full of shit tbh I really doubt he was any quicker than Lee, Akhtar etc. at least on any consistent basis.
The thing is there is no real way to tell as obviously you can't put bowlers from different eras side to side .

Speed guns are a good guide but they don't take into account getting a sighter on the ball in the action eg Bumrah being able to release the ball closer then others .

On Thommo , I played with a guy and his father opened in the 74/75 Ashes for England . He faced everyone through that era and said Thommo was by far the quickest going and it wasn't close.
A few guys retired because of him after that series .
At worst today I dare say he would be the quickest

You get the vibe some in here want a technically perfect corpse with pads on.

You're always going to get generational change that grates a little bit. We had it with Punter. I remember ten years or so ago watching Head playing in the big bash thinking here's our next number 3. It took longer than expected & I'll be the first one to put their hand up thinking it wasn't going to be him a couple of years back when it looked like he was just throwing away his wicket, but now he's the game changer and winning more players of the test / series than anyone. You can probably say the same of Warner when he first made the test side. Most were thinking he was a T20 player and that's it, but he redefined the opener role similar to how Gilly did with keeper / batsmen. Let's see where the next generation leads us. If the talent is there it will shine through & redefine the next generation of openers coming through.

Bullshit know exactly how it works
PIPPS you heard of that?
They never pitched outside leg never had any bat hit them dead in line not outside.
They were all out. Bull they weren't hitting
Maybe educate yourself dickhead
None of the ones you said were out, were out

Would that be Dennis Amiss? I recall Chappelli telling the story of Thommo bowling to Dennis Amiss at the WACA and he bowled a bouncer that took off and hit the sight screen behind the keeper on the full for 6 byes. Amiss went as white as a sheet so Chappell reckoned.

Do you think fast bowling has slowed down over the last 40 years?

If so do you think that is because the sports scientists realized that you don't need to bowl at 140+km/hr consistently to trouble batsmen?

Or is it more so because so much more cricket is played these days?

Or because you can't bowl that fast consistently & avoid injury?

Or all three?
Fast bowling has only gotten quicker.
The old fart West Indians were 135 at best.
The game evolves as it should.
Guys like Bumerah and konstas are the future

Watson, OKeefe and brett lee asked for their opinions re: kohli hit.

one of them said "two of us work in india".

On Fox, talked about konstas standing up for himself.

None of them chastised kohli.

We talk about not backing down, guts and determination in sport and life, toughing things out. Let's see if CA or the team take this further.

Lol, he didn't shiv him dude.

You literally have no clue how LBW works. All day you have been an utter liar when it comes to today's LBW decisions.
I don't think you watched a ball bowled today or how the pitch played.
Just watched the highlights.
The umps went conservative and that's fine but they've set the precedent and need to now not call them all test

Mark Waugh went quite hard, adamant a suspension was appropriate.

Deserves a shout for that.
