..and make what call given the heatwave conditions on day one? Expect we wont wanna bat in 38% heat.
Bat. When in doubt someone get a 4 by 4 and tell him you better bat. No one wants to watch us bowl tomorrow

That is a BIG call.
At the same stage of their careers (28 tests) Kallis had already hit 4 centuries, and he was about to hit a fifth in his 29th and take his average up to 41. Green has 2 centuries and averages 36. Another 43 centuries looks a long way off. Let’s say he plays 10 years uninterrupted, he needs to average 4 centuries a year to get to that level in terms of big scores.
He had 51 wickets at 27 at the same point as well.
At that point he had just turned 24.
Green is already closer to 26.
Anyone looking to match Kallis is up against it from the beginning - him being statistically one of the greatest cricketers in 150 years of history and all - and when you start from a little bit further behind, you have an even harder job.
Green is a potential gun without doubt. But it’s very questionable whether he can reach that level
Typo, meant bowl. Still batting aint any fun either with constant strike rotation. In the heat you bat not bowl.
Green, if fit will walk in re bowling. @32.6 is moderate. Batting @55 is another matter. I see Green at between @40/45. Time will tell tho as he has plenty of time to play another 138 games over 14 years, providing he does not keep breaking down.Anyone looking to match Kallis is up against it from the beginning
And the other 10 of them too.Hopefully Konstas has a blinder.
Team confirmed
Head is fit
Marsh fine (he’s a mediocre average no6 but Green isn’t fit)
Konstas in (as an opener despite what one person wanted here)
Boland in for Hazelwood
Marsh is a spud.
I'd pick Maxwell before Marsh. He'd be shit but far more entertaining.Sure but give us an alternative that’s available now Green isn’t fit

Webster without doubt should have been given a go considering Marsh is in a batting no 10
Marsh was near our best bat in the first test. Failed in the second (everyone did), and poor in the 3rd test. Let’s not pretend Webster is some sure thing being better. Green is the answer he’s not fit. We were NEVER debuting two blokes in our top 6 at 1-1 in a huge series it’s never going to happen

And he and Richo get to sit on the bench for no reason for the next 2 weeks as wellNo Inglis will be a turd in the xmas punchbowl out west.
They said Hazelwood was fit last test and look what happened,I hope they have got it right this time especially with Marsh who we need to bowl a lot more overs then he has.Team confirmed

Well he made a 40 odd, good on him. He has avereaged 22 with the bat this year while bowling 47 overs for us as the all-rounder. It simply isn't good enough at all. Would be in line to be dropped from first class cricket with those numbers.
If we wanted an all rounder Webster deserves a run with his numbers he has put up.
Personally if we didn't care Marsh isn't bowling, we re-jigg the batting order and don't drop McSweeny and bat him in a position that he is more comfortable in.

Green getting to Shane Watson levels will do first, he will never be near Kallis
