I thought we’d be up shit creek once Goldstein retires but Xerri has waltzed in and claimed the throne and given it a new spin with his style of play.

I’d say he’s already a far better player than Goldy was. Far different players, and Goldy was a great tap ruckman, but Xerri offers way more to the team.

He was in AA form last season, I can only see him getting better and being a shoe-in again this year. By the end he’ll have easily eclipsed Goldstein’s best work.

settle down. Goldy should've finished with 4 or 5 AAs. X will be lucky to get one playing with the North handicap.

I agree he should have. But they’re two different types of players at the end of the day, however Xerri’s at earlier junctures showing signs of greater peaks but maybe not the longevity of Goldstein.

This is hyperbole. He only had one season where he was clearly the best ruck in the league and he made AA that year. Otherwise he was always in a group of 4-5 high quality rucks and we never won enough games for him to stand out.

He was robbed blind in the years they gave it to Naitanui and Minson and the moment Gawn and Grundy arrived on the scene everyone started pretending he didn't exist. They would've at least snuck him in on the bench in a few of those years if he'd played for a big club.

There was a bloke called Sandilands running around as well
