The only problem with losing Cameron is the huge hole he'll leave. We would probably have to use that first round pick on another ruckman anyway. Hill is one we could probably lose and that pick could get us a genuine midfielder. Forget Harley, we'll never be in the race for him.
I want to keep Cameron
However
We can’t overpay (I don’t know what that figure is)
So, if we get priced out of his services, we need to walk away and find other options - trade him for the best price possible, bring in someone like Ramsden (who was spoken about on Gettable)

It is a delicate balance bw paying a player their worth / balancing against the market / putting the club first

As much am I love Darcy Cameron, him and Bobby Hill are two players we can probably get 2 teams to pay through the nose for.

Not that we are in the race, but Cameron (worth atleast a first), Hill (atleast a first) + a future first would probably get us in the Harley Reid conversation, especially considering west coast seem to want ready made players to make them competitive (going by their actions last trade period).

Do the deal with WCE in heartbeat.

Then raid Carlton for TDK or at the least make them pay a small fortune. Draper is also a RFA.

Cox has always been the been the best tap ruck but never had the chance to be no 1. He shoul dbe able to get through another season and may relish the chance.

What? How can you possibly say rental yields would be better in middle/outer suburbs or that the capital gains might be potentially higher?

That would make for a lot of disappointed doctors in leafy Kew. Personally, for me the suburb peaked when David Cloke owned the bottleshop at Glenferrie & Cotham. Wasn't big on asking for ID.

What is possible is that middle or outer suburbs might have a higher beta compared to Kew. But that can go both ways.
All this tells me is that you’re much better at contract law than real estate investing.

Good substance. I just might sell up and start buying stuff in the outer suburbs. Maybe you could guide me?
Come out West. We can drink beers on my porch together

Let me show you around the hidden delights of Frankston, gateway to a furnace of eternal despair the Mornington Peninsula.

We'll start with the famed Ambassador Hotel. Located on Frankston's 'Sunset Strip', with a legal aid or pawn shop or dispute resolution centre every 25 metres for everyone's convenience, this jewel is just waiting for a slumlord shrewd investor to help rediscover its magic.

Look at that brickwork!

I stayed in Kew last year. What gets me is that the Kew Junction strip is still pretty divey.

I have spent a night at that establishment. Back in 2005.

jathanas says not enough concrete

He’s a top 3 ruck in the league, contracted and (reportedly) has multiple clubs making enquiries. I’d have thought under those circumstances a top 10 pick would at least get the conversation started.

If he does want to leave, West Coast’s first pick this year seems ok which can then go to Gold Coast for Rowell

I’d be angling for some type of deal including Moyle if Cameron were to leave.

Yup, no more fire sales.

Our salary cap appears to be in good order (thank you GW). We could easily afford imo to pay Cameron what he wants but it's about keeping our structure and not overpaying for a ruckman. We cannot repeat the Grundy mistake.

Previously WCE were after Tim English? So whatever they were prepared to offer contract wise and player/draft pick wise then Cameron is worth more than that. So WCE would need to pay up big time imo.

Is anyone convinced Steene or Smit will develop into a regular Afl ruckman? That is my main concern as when we eventually let Grundy leave, we had Cox and Cameron that had shown they were capable.

Meek is at Hawthorn? But if you meant obtaining a back up ruckman at another club then yeah I agree.

I think he stays at the Hawks IMO

They have a long jam of talented midfielders Day, Duke, Nash, Mackenzie, Ward, and the Worp himself and Hustwaite

Day, Duke and Nash have been the main 3 since he’s been injured
Day is a great player. Only concern for the Hawks is his injury history. Another 4 months on the sidelines.
