Another year, another chance to make fools of ourselves.

Last year we voted for a Top 8 of:
Bris
Coll
Port
Carlton
GWS
Sydney

Adelaide
Melb

We missed Geelong, Western Bulldogs & the Hawks. The Hawks the big surprise. EskimoPAFC the only one to nail the Hawks. I picked them for the spoon, so couldn't have been further off.

Brisbane was the most voted for finals team, so their success not that much of a surprise.

So our prediction thread has gone:
2024: 5 of 8
2023: 4 of 8
2022: 5 of 8
2021: 5 of 8
2020: 7 of 8
2019: 6 of 8
2018: 5 of 8
2017: 6 of 8
2016: 5 of 8

We picked the grand finalists as finals contenders, we only got 1 GF team in 2017, 2021, 2022 and 2023. We nailed both teams in 2025, 2020, 2019 and 2016. We guessed none of the GF teams in 2018.

So by the law of averages, we usually pick one GF team for finals, but only half the time do we actually pick both.

longdonkey and I picked the right GF teams, I also picked the premier correctly.

No one picked the Tigers for the spoon

So here's my predictions for 2025

1. Brisbane
2. Sydney
3. Collingwood
4. Geelong
5. Hawthorn
6. Carlton
7. Fremantle
8. Port Adelaide
9. GWS
10. Adelaide
11. Western Bulldogs
12. Melbourne
13. Gold Coast
14. Essendon
15. St Kilda
16. North Melbourne
17. West Coast
18. Richmond

GF & Premiers: Brisbane Vs Geelong - Brisbane Premiers
Wooden Spooner: Richmond
Brownlow: Nick Daicos
Coleman: Jeremy Cameron
Power B&F: Miles Bergman
Power AA’s: None
Power Most Improved: Sweet or Sinn
Power Rising Star Nominees: Berry

For some added fun.....

A Positive Story Line from the year:
- Ken Hinkley's handover to Carr a tremendous success. Since their handover in round 8, the Power has gone undefeated through to their first GF in 18 years.

Negative Story Line for the year:
- Port secure bottom 4 finish and GC death ride Port all the way to a superstar selection.

Why so much love for Collingwood?
Still reckon they’re shit.
Think McStay fit will give them a very different look again this year. Josh, Nick, Dan, gives them a lot of foot skill, Pendlebury and Sidebottom continue to execute and their kids seem to be simmering ready to explode.

Still think there over hyped shit but time will tell I guess.
Pendlebury and Sidebottom I reckon should have given it away last year.

Agree but they’ll rip the shit teams up with clean disposal from Daicos, Daicos, Houston et al.

I reckon I’d be a chance to kick 25+ goals with the entries their forwards will see.

They won a flag a couple years back, so there's good bones there. I just personally think they'll win round 1, they'll absolutely smash us in round 2, and they'll be off full of confidence and hard to stop. They have a great defence and some fantastic mids/ground ball winners and enough danger in the front half to hurt teams when they get rolling. Houston is a massive pick up too, plus Perryman adding depth. I dont think they're winning a flag, but I think they'll be right up there.

I think GWS will take a backwards step. Hawthorn's soft draw last year will be exposed so they'll be 5-8 for me. I think the Cats will continue to be strong, all the bones there of a very good, quick, dangerous side, and I think Sydney and Brisbane will just stack wins in the minor round with ease.

Injuries are going to hurt us and i suspect Carlton, especially with our draw. Freo should be on the up, but I dont think they can turn that into top 4. The Crows will be the big movers, but i suspect they'll falter late and just fall short of the finals.

I believe everything went there way when they won the flag. Won upteen close games in a row.
You can’t buy that luck at Bunnings.
I’d be massively surprised if they made top 4.

Can't be bothered doing a whole ladder but I'm going to make one hot take: Not only are Hawthorn not going to contend for a premiership, they won't even make the 8.
I was in that camp and could see a drop off as teams work them out and second year blues hit, I just don’t think Sam Mitchell will allow that to happen. He is a winning culture and extrudes success, I don’t agree with much of what Kane says but calling him a Genius praising his coaching ability wasn’t far off, unsure if Genius is the correct descriptor, I would use ‘a Winner’ or ‘Port Adelaide like’ as my descriptors for him.

were just so bland that any player who has any form of pressure put on them from the oppo will fall down when needed, except maybe jhf. We will beat up weak teams in the 1st quarter and cruise through to the end, get beaten by 6 of the top 8 and end up about 9th all the while having to hear Ken getting cheered on through each round by the club and media in some dystopian clap-fest based on Ken being some type of coaching wonder kid that this little club from Adelaide was so lucky to have with them and sacrificed himself for the club showing such resolution and loyalty. Its like Hitler going to Nuremberg and in his best loud dictator-like voice say "someone has to lose" and the whole stadium erupts. It beyond weird.
