Another year, another chance to make fools of ourselves.
Last year we voted for a Top 8 of:
Bris
Coll
Port
Carlton
GWS
Sydney
Adelaide
Melb
We missed Geelong, Western Bulldogs & the Hawks. The Hawks the big surprise. EskimoPAFC the only one to nail the Hawks. I picked them for the spoon, so couldn't have been further off.
Brisbane was the most voted for finals team, so their success not that much of a surprise.
So our prediction thread has gone:
2024: 5 of 8
2023: 4 of 8
2022: 5 of 8
2021: 5 of 8
2020: 7 of 8
2019: 6 of 8
2018: 5 of 8
2017: 6 of 8
2016: 5 of 8
We picked the grand finalists as finals contenders, we only got 1 GF team in 2017, 2021, 2022 and 2023. We nailed both teams in 2025, 2020, 2019 and 2016. We guessed none of the GF teams in 2018.
So by the law of averages, we usually pick one GF team for finals, but only half the time do we actually pick both.
longdonkey and I picked the right GF teams, I also picked the premier correctly.
No one picked the Tigers for the spoon
So here's my predictions for 2025
1. Brisbane
2. Sydney
3. Collingwood
4. Geelong
5. Hawthorn
6. Carlton
7. Fremantle
8. Port Adelaide
9. GWS
10. Adelaide
11. Western Bulldogs
12. Melbourne
13. Gold Coast
14. Essendon
15. St Kilda
16. North Melbourne
17. West Coast
18. Richmond
GF & Premiers: Brisbane Vs Geelong - Brisbane Premiers
Wooden Spooner: Richmond
Brownlow: Nick Daicos
Coleman: Jeremy Cameron
Power B&F: Miles Bergman
Power AA’s: None
Power Most Improved: Sweet or Sinn
Power Rising Star Nominees: Berry
For some added fun.....
A Positive Story Line from the year:
- Ken Hinkley's handover to Carr a tremendous success. Since their handover in round 8, the Power has gone undefeated through to their first GF in 18 years.
Negative Story Line for the year:
- Port secure bottom 4 finish and GC death ride Port all the way to a superstar selection.
