Jake Niall reporting that Elijah Hollands is back from his break and will return in the VFL this week. Also mentioned Carlton are hopeful of getting McKay back but as of today this has not been confirmed.

Wouldn't it be nice to beat Collingwood for a change
Don't go putting your House on it comrades ... Winter is a coming.

IN: McKay (hopefully!) and Lord
OUT: Evans and Young

FB: Cowan Weitering McGovern
HB: Boyd Silvagni Saad
C: Acres Cripps O.Hollands
HF: Kemp McKay Cottrell
FF: Motlop Curnow Fogarty
FOL: TDK Hewett Cerra
INT: Haynes Walsh Lord Williams
SUB: Docherty
  • Haven't hated Ollie at HB but I really do think we need to sure up that wing position and I trust him more than Docherty at the moment. That Acres/Hollands wing combo worked pretty well last year and with Boyd returning to HB I think we can run with it again.
  • I am not a fan of 4 tall defenders (Weitering/Silvagni/McGovern/Haynes) ordinarily but if it's going to work this is the week to try it. Pies will have Mihocek, McStay, Membrey, and Cox all up for selection in the forward line. I assume they probably end up dropping one but even then it would leave us with a McGovern on Elliot type matchup which I think is decent for us. McGovern generally seems to do better defending smaller types.
  • Assuming Williams gets up but if not happy with one of Moir, Durdin or White. A debut in front of close to 90K against the arch rivals would be exciting.
  • If McKay is still unavailable you would stick with Young as a forward. Played well last week and have only dropped him because of team balance.

Nice of Craig McRae texting Vossy to check in and wishing him all the best for this weeks game - maybe he gave him his last $50 too 🙄

Would love nothing more than seeing a sooking McRae come late Thursday night.
More front than Myer - can't stand the 2 face *****

My latest team thoughts.

In: McKay, Moir, White, Lord
Out: McGovern, Docherty, Evans, Young

Boyd Weitering Haynes
Williams Silvagni Saad
O Hollands Cripps Cottrell
Moir McKay White
Motlop Curnow Kemp
De Koning Hewett Cerra

Cowan Lord Walsh Fogarty

Sub: Acres

Walsh to rotate between the wing and centre bounce. Williams needs to go back into defence and do the fricken job he was hired for. He was a gun defender. If he can't play there, bring Doc back and play him there.

Acres is being taught a lesson by being made sub. Lewis Young does NOT deserve to be dropped, but having an extra tall is a luxury we can not afford against the running Pies.

Lord needs a full game. He has been our quickest midfielder in defence and attack, something I wasn't aware of before checking the stats. I consider him one of the slow guys usually.

I’m at the point with Gov where I want him dropped before Young who actually played ok against the Dogs. Docherty also really should be dropped. That said I highly doubt Voss will make too many chances.

Only thing with Young is yes he played well as a forward last week but thought he was quite poor against Chol the week prior when in defence. McGovern can also play smaller and has a much better kick. But I agree he needs to improve or a Carroll type might go past him soon. Or we just go with three talls against most opposition meaning there is one spot for Haynes/Gov to fight it out.

On Docherty I don't disagree - would be happy with a Moir-type being sub instead.
