MAKE it three …

Carlton will blood a third Club debutant on Thursday night, with Francis Evans to run out for the Blues against the Tigers.

With Lucas Camporeale and Nick Haynes also playing their first games for the Club, Evans will pull on the Navy Blue in front of 80,000 people at the MCG for the traditional clash.

A Breakdown of the Oppo - from Tigers fan POV - how do we not smash this?

"14 less than 50 games, a further 11 of which have less than 25.

And we really lack elite talent in that group too.

Lalor is the only top 15 pick.

4 others are late first rounders (2 first year players), Trainor, Armstrong, Brown and Dow.

2 more are 2nd rounders, Banks and Sonsie.

The rest are 40/50+ , mid season draft and rookies".

In relation to whether Moir is ready fitness wise….

Does a player that plays up forward need a huge tank?

I didn’t think he lacked fitness during game against west coast.

I’m keen to see him in the seniors soon. He adds real spark.
Our smaller forwards, especially the Fog/Orazio type role, pop up all over the ground and often push all the way up to D50. Even Motlop gets up there.

I love these moments before our 1st game.
Blue skies
Anything is possible.
Beating Hawks is now up there with beating Collingwood and Essendon for mine.
So rest up Charlie...
Rest Hazza if you aren't sure.

And tonite
It's pistols at dawn (so to speak)

What are you on Horsie? That made no sense at all!!
I know..I'm over excited.
Been chatting to a lampost these last 40 minutes.
Fwiw..lampost says we'll romp it in.

Beware the ides of March!

ferrisb slap me please.

Let's go Baggers!!!!

Game day...finally!!

Don't mind the line up. Only missing Charlie, Newman, Jagga (yes, would have played R1), Elijah from our best 23. With Fantasia/Boyd/Cincotta borderline.

Frank in for Fantasia (who had a great preseason and would have played R1) makes sense. Will be watching closely from the stands as to how our half forwards get up and down the ground to help. I'm talking Frank, Cottrell, Motlop and Fog.

Excited for Lucas C making his debut. I was there in R1 1995 when Scott made his debut. I'm feeling old..

I agree with others that our forward line is slightly concerning, but I feel our on-ballers will present plenty of opportunities IF we have finally realised to take the best option, not just bomb it to Harry.

Nankervis and Vlaustin have historically camped in front of our full forwards, because they know the ball will be bombed there. I'm looking for Kemp to be playing a negating role on Vlaustin and take him out of play, if Vlaustin ignores Kemp, then surely the instructions are for the onballers to hit up Kemp. TDK must present a target as well, forcing Nankervis to man him up, and not sit in the hole in front of Harry.

Please play smart Carlton. If we do, we win comfortably.

Good luck to our debutants and to JSOS, Ollie and Kemp in their new roles.

I'm not sure about that. Can look a million dollars against a poor team then fall off against stiff opposition. Hawks game will tell us more.

I get what you're saying, but I'm not necessarily looking for output. We can still learn a lot from tonight in terms of system/structure.

We should also have respect for every opponent we face no matter what. We've achieved nothing and should never write off our opposition before the first bounce.

Pardon the intrusion, I come in peace!

Tonight we did a live show with PommyinOz who is a Carlton supporter who does content on YouTube, I'm sure a lot of you have seen / heard of him along the journey.

We were doing a show previewing this weeks game.

feel free to check it out, he is fantastic.

All the best for tomorrow night, please be gentle.. :p

Always welcome around these parts mate. Really enjoyed your content in the lead up to the draft last year - especially when you guys pulled off that heist from North :thumbsu:

I don't think Walsh will play much off HF at all, rather it will be a position to rotate other mids through.

Can see Doc, Acres, Cripps, Cerra, and Hewett all potentially getting minutes to give us some better quality sprints through the game, some of that speed and power through weight of midfield numbers and tactics to support them.

Under that paradigm, I'd be giving Walsh some wing minutes to keep him physically fresh.

Young is a witches hat up forward, he has so little confidence in his main role as well. For whatever reason, he just cannot get into gear with his intercept work or his ability to send the ball out with focus and urgency.

The idea with O'Farrell was to play the same role as Carroll, and have Cowan do a little more of the heavy lifting.
why would they play young forward, as you say, he's not suited to the role as he never, pretty much ever, plays or even practises that role...?

If need be, he slots in down back and one of JSOS or Guv go forward...

Expect a big year from Mots - reckon he's matured a lot and realises the commitment/sacrifice required at the top level to succeed.

He's a game changer too - can kick 3 or more in a quarter when on fire!

Mots and Williams are both quality. Williams too looks cherry ripe - full pre season...

Kemp as a legitimate third tall target changes our make up too - for the better. Terrific overhead - will smash Broad or Vlastuin for example (reckon he'll do well against Sicily come Rd 2) - he's quick too. Rang rings around Taylor the other day in the GWS game....

All the big H knee stuff - is there really any legitimacy to it? I've seen zero credible reports.

And I still reckon we might see Charlie out there...

I'm all in on Motlop. I know he hasn't shown the consistency but this kid is electric in creating goals out of nothing, you even feel it at the ground. People have the right to be frustrated when he disappears for the majority of the game but the next stage for him is figuring out how to get involved when it's not going his way, especially from a pressure perspective.
