Butters for milera straight swapWanganeen-Milera wants to play with Jase Burgoyne and I'd say whatever ever we offer isn't going to be enough to convince him even with us looking on the rise and Port crashing out.

I cant see Butters wanting to go to the Saints.Butters for milera straight swap
If you were butters, what club stands out like a sore thumb to want to join back in Victoria?...Hawthorn. If I was him thats where I would be trying to get to assuming they are interested. They may get Oscar Allen too - flags could be coming in thick and fast in the next few years.I cant see Butters wanting to go to the Saints.
After wasting his career at Port, he may even be prepared to accept slight unders in a contract, if it could lead to a flag.If you were butters, what club stands out like a sore thumb to want to join back in Victoria?...Hawthorn. They have Carltons 1st this year, they way Carlton are going it could be a top 4 pick and that might be enough to tempt Port this year maybe with a F1 and something coming back. And it helped last year that they got Barrass and Battle to shore up their defence. Everyone wants to go to the bloody hawksAfter wasting his career at Port, he may even be prepared to accept slight unders in a contract, if it could lead to a flag.
The Hawks have the picks too, especially if the Blues season continues with its current trajectory. 2025 1st and 2026 1st.
Make no doubt about it, if Port lose Butters in 2025, they will try and turn that into Dyson Sharp. They have Carltons 1st this year, they way Carlton are going it could be a top 4 pick and that might be enough to tempt Port this year maybe with a F1 and something coming back. Yeah no doubt...BUT, if they got say pick 4 from the Hawks for him and say the hawks F1 - are they going to bundle up picks again to try and get pick 1 or 2 which is 'probably' needed to make sure of Sharp this year? Port need a spread of talent as their list has holes all over it and burning multiple 1sts just to replace Butters with a young mid would seem like a really bad way to list build.Make no doubt about it, if Port lose Butters in 2025, they will try and turn that into Dyson Sharp.

I think they will. I think they will use the same blueprint that saw them trade up in the 2018 draft and get Rozee.Yeah no doubt...BUT, if they got say pick 4 from the Hawks for him and say the hawks F1 - are they going to bundle up picks again to try and get pick 1 or 2 which is 'probably' needed to make sure of Sharp this year? All the other teams ahead of Port in the draft would just need to sell the perception that they want Sharp.Likely Sharp falls a couple of spots - usually a few VIC boys come on
In terms of trade though - they may utilise to get Phillipou or NWM from Saints in a three way trade

Maybe so..without wanting to pollute this thread too much with speculating how they might work a deal, IF its the hawks and its a top 4 or 5 pick assuming Carlton fall on their arse this year and they get a future pick as well from the hawks, they might try and wangle say Phillipou from the saints with a future 1st coming back and then trade back into this draft to grab another 1st rounder so it becomes a player (Phillipou) + 1st round picked player for Butters. That would be somewhat palatable imo.Likely Sharp falls a couple of spots - usually a few VIC boys come on

If they do that, they are just exposing themselves even more badly as they will again be neglecting the remainder of their list, but happy days, let them struggle for years to come I sayI think they will. I agree with you that their list has holes and needs multiple positions to be filled, but I think they will definitely go down the path of trying to turn Butters into Sharp.
There is also the NWM issue for Port if he wants to go to them.Maybe so..without wanting to pollute this thread too much with speculating how they might work a deal, IF its the hawks and its a top 4 or 5 pick assuming Carlton fall on their arse this year and they get a future pick as well from the hawks, they might try and wangle say Phillipou from the saints with a future 1st coming back and then trade back into this draft to grab another 1st rounder so it becomes a player (Phillipou) + 1st round picked player for Butters. I'd be happy to give our 1st up for NWM and maybe a F2 as wellThere is also the NWM issue for Port if he wants to go to them.
Saints will demand a high price for him. The Saints IMO will want the Hawks pick that Port gets.
Wait we got Peatling and a F3 and F4 just for our own F2?? That is a remarkably good deal, particular if we finish in the top 8 around GWS on the ladder. Was looking at other teams recent trading years in light of some of our own recent trading decisions and came across this:

Surely close to the best 4 year block of trading in the history of the AFL and that doesn’t even include the pick trade to get Curtin.
Nothing solid or concrete but it is strong mail that playing with Burgoyne is pretty key to any move he makes.Intel?
Well damn it..... Players do get traded in contract though so we would just have to pay moreTaylor Goad signed a contract extension at North until the end of 2028.
It was a bloody outstanding deal you got. Couldn’t believe it when I read it we were heavily into Peatling. Your 2R is going to end up a pick in the 40s after NGA/FS bids this year. JHF really hates Losing he could flee if he feels they are gonna be shit during his prime years. Then when Dyson is tired of playing for the filth, he can request a trade to the Crows.

So Burgoyne and Wanganeen Milera to Hawthorn? Kidding.Nothing solid or concrete but it is strong mail that playing with Burgoyne is pretty key to any move he makes.
