Can someone explain to me if this is good? Use a F1 team metaphor if possible.
So imagine you have a pit crew that includes the wheel jack guy who fumbles it every second time, and the guy who holds the "stop/go" sign in front of the drivers face. So you put both of these guys into the leadership group, because they've been around for a bit.

Oddly nothing gets better, in fact, things get worse, so you remove the wheel jack guy, because he's balls at his job. You leave in the largely irrelevant guy who holds the sign. I mean, you need that guy to not be like, super shit at holding the sign, but you probably don't pay him that much.

This is where we are right now.

Sorry, you're right, he just looked like he didn't give a single shit. Go look at the replay.
The replay shows him watching. And just at the moment it happens, he’s obscured by someone.
The most you can say is that he was expressionless just before it happened.
He’s not a demonstrative guy.
And I know it’s fashionable to slag him off at the moment, but do you really think that a guy whose identity has been the Adelaide Football Club for over a decade isn’t going to be pleased when the team wins? Come on.

That's a furphy, not sure how this myth has propagated!
The GOAT Leigh Matthews said about 10 years ago...
"Ruckmen's stats are over rated, the hitout stat is useless" also stating "Aaron Sandilands might be the most over rated player in the competition"

At the time Ross Lyon also said Leigh's opinion was "absolutely correct"

& Mark Thompson also commented
"I've never put a great emphasis on Ruckmen either.

I think Nick Murray is enough of a leader down back to have been at least considered, he's 25 this year and leaves it all on the field with his efforts. Also does a fair bit of vocal direction down back.
Quite bullish on a lot of our backs' leadership potential. Max looks like he could run the joint now. Murray leads from the front and is inspirational. Woz absolutely hates losing in any form and isn't shy about demanding when others need to be better, might be a bit too passionate to be in the leader role at times but demands the best at all times.

Trade week and I thought we gave away a second too quick for ANB but I was wrong. Think his leadership and professionalism will help the young guys develop, perfect player for us as our rebuild is complete. Think he will be well worth it for 3 or 4 years and looks like a great bloke and great teammate

Don't forget Clarkson at Hawthorn.

Won his first flag with Renouf / Campbell.

Won his 2nd with David Hale / Max Bailey

Retaining Reilly O'Brien :crossmark:

Well the fear is he doesnt remain best 22. But we have to remember at the stage that ROB was elected there was no competition for spots as McAndrew wasnt brought in. This is probably a week old. Could be older. And there is nothing wrong with a leader in the Sanfl either. But lets face it, there are no certainties McAndrew will force his way in. ROB could have a clutch year.

There is a statistical reason they continue to have ruckman. Contrary to popular belief, clubs arent stupid. everything is statistically broken down that much and gamed against alternatives and to put it bluntly, if there was another option that gave an advantage ie using smaller midfielders, theyd be used. 100%. The fact all clubs use 200cm+ ruckmen tells us the reason exists.

Thought ANB spoke very well on radio yesterday arvo, seems a very switched on bloke and a quality guy to have around the group.
