"Young will definitely play some footy this weekend"

"Work out where after main training, has had a pretty interrupted pre season

Sean Darcy in the same boat"

Just judging off JL, it seems like Young might play AFL but Darcy is WAFL

Sharp will be fine this week, just took the opportunity to sub a like for like on and give him less game time
Sharp would want to improve his form. His one sided and average kicking has rendered him being a liability. If it is the cork thing he suffered early in the Sydney game - then let him get that right with a game off. I remember that incident it was when a handball was flicked out to him just i50 and as he went to kick a Sydney player came in and bump tackled him. His lower shin as he went to kick collected the Sydney player and not the ball.

Sharp had someone hurt his leg against Geelong I thought, I vaguely remember him getting smothered and he kicked the player. Looked sore since.
I don’t know about Geelong game but the incident I described above was in the first quarter and he limped off and immediately had a heap of strapping applied to his lower shin.

32 seconds in Banfield handballs to him:

Now that I watch that he did seem to have some strapping on lower leg already so you might be right but that lower leg took a decent hit in that Sydney incident and I remember straight after he was on the bench wincing in pain as they rubbed and then applied some more strapping.

I dont see how either are best 22 to be honest, sub maybe. Using Snuff's save Freo plan which really shoehorns in a few players as it is. Who would you drop for either as it stands

Ryan Pearce Wagner
Clark Draper Young (goes through middle A LOT)
Noddy Serong Sharp
Bolton Treacy Reid
Switta Amiss Cox

Darcy Jackson Brayshaw

JOM Johnson Freddy Chapman

Which player are you leaving out for either?
In the pre-season I would have trialled Walker forward or on a wing. Of course, he's injured now so moot point. Not to mention it never happened. Maybe even Switta at halfback. I think Sharp is more a liability than not; great wheels...no doubt. But lacks defensive accountability, accurate or even good disposal by foot and if he isn't pinging goals, he becomes a weak link in the chain for me.

So Sharp could potentially go, Clark to a wing (or Chapman maybe?). Jaeger could be a versatile sub and it also saves his legs a bit if he's not playing a full game. So there's 2 potential options. I think it's hard, but we could deffo shoehorn Walters in, but not sure if that injury has hampered him now, he was in good-looking form before that; perhaps rejuvenated by the arrival of both Bolton and Dudley (??)

Sharp has many deficiencies, hence why he was free, but not sure he lacks defensive accountability.
I've seen him run hard both ways and get back into defence at times.
His role isn't to be 1:1 with a player, but he does need to get back to make sure his opposing winger is covered.

Has Switta really never kicked more than 2 goals in game...
Yes. It’s insane isn’t it.
I can’t take a forward seriously that has kicked so few goals over such a long period of time.

He’s kicked 2 goals on 10 occasions in seven years of footy and 89 games in total.

Jeez, I'm a big fan of Switta but that's like, pretty horrific.

He's more of a mid then a forward though. His best work is up there ground. He has been a solid player for the club but I would be more then happy to use him in a trade with Pickett.
Not really, he's still a small forward IMO. Now, I'm not saying I'd drop him on that stat given he's basically 75% of the forward pressure but it's a pretty alarming stat non the less. I'd love to keep him even getting Pickett. Keep Jackson in the middle then run with Treacy/Amiss and a fleet of hard running smalls - you know, like basically everyone else.

Switta's one wood is he's a bit of a playmaker, he can change angles with his agility and impact with his pretty good decision making.
If he could actually kick goals he'd be amazing, unfortunately that isn't the case.

He's a high half forward. Gryan Miers has kicked 101 goals in 134 games, is that an alarming stat for him? People on here have an obsession with goals because we have always struggled to put up big scores. Is it fair to compare Miers to Tyson Stengle? no because they play different positions, small forward is not a blanket term for everyone. I don't think any club out there judges players so much on goals like on here

Alex Neale-Bullen is more of the player we should be comparing Switta to. ANB has kicked 120 goals in 179 games and has always been highly respected at the clubs he has played at, just like Switta has been here. If Switta was expected to kick goals as a deep forward he wouldn't finish so high in our B&F. He was the first forward to come into champion data's All-Australian team last year if one player was to miss out - according to Hoyney.

Freddy moving up to the wing to take Sharp's spot and Switta coming back to play high HF makes our team so much better. Switta is also one of the best contest and 1-on-1 players we have in the front half. He makes stuff happen. He was second at the club for Goal assists last year and top 5 for score involvements. Always criminally underrated on here

Clark is a jet and probably one of the most underrated players.
If Sharp don’t sharpen up
Clark as the defensive wingmen
Driz the attacking wingmen will work

I think the bigger issue is the players he is surrounded with.
Walters is aging, Frederick is not a reliable goal kicker, Jackson does not kick many when forwards, Sturt is always injured.

We just don't get enough goals outside of Amiss and Treacy over the last 2 years, and this is a big issue.

Hopefully Dudley and Bolton can solve the issue to a large extent, and this will let other players do their role.

Worth mentioned Young being out has hurt, as he was good for a goal a week as a mid which helps a lot.

Finally we have some skillful smalls around him. Dudley's rating is off 1 game only obviously but they compliment him perfectly
