Surely a reasonably competent list management team would have analysed all options. Barrass to Hawthorn was not a secret. The List Management team knew it was a possibility. Surely someone wouldve analysed "ok Barrass to Hawthorn is a possibility. They have Carlton and their own picks. Which will be better if we had to choose, if they deal goes through? At least 36 hours lapsed between the Carlton pick swap and trade deadline.


Its simple risk management. Leaving the decision to the last minute is pure negligence and a pure example of a list management team not doing due diligence. Your job as a list manager is to explore possibilities of deals, which if the excuse is "we had no time to choose " is clear evidence that the prep work didnt happen.

I dont buy the "we didnt have time to choose" explanation. Thats just a cop out. The LM team failed to do their due diligence, and the team will suffer as a result
