Now that we’ve disposed of Port, my eyes are next set on Carlton, rnd 9 Spud’s game.

But, I hope Melbourne have worked their shit out by the time we face them in Alice. I want to beat them whilst they’re standing up.

I’m in the Mundi Mundi plains atm, which is not Alice, but I must say can’t really imagine playing footy up here just feels like another world, would love to get to that Saints/Melb game.

Unrelated to footy, but spent yesterday searching around the area for trivial filming location’s for Wake in Fright (71’) and its director Ted Kotcheff passed away in the night coincidentally.

Can't agree the destruction of Melbourne Demons is on Goodwin, they had a rotten gutless culture long before he arrived. He did get them to a premiership - however much of that was down to him, you need to be at least half decent to do that - but his darker side has been very poor for the club since then.

Essendon were carrying on like they had won a flag after the game, but their game style was putrid 448 disposals for 43 inside 50's. The media are carrying on about how they had a record disposal count, well that happens when you constantly chip the ball sideways, backwards and play handball circle work. For me with their list they are the worst under performing side in the competition - Brad Scott is not half the coach of his brother.

Melbourne are cooked the off field stuff has caught up with them - Gawn is a shell of his former self, Petracca is not well either physically or emotionally, Oliver's life of debauchery has caught up with him and Viney is nearing the end.

Neither side have a forward line and I can see Melbourne bottoming out to the levels of WCE for the next few years.

Wow. Goodwin sounds like such a knob here. At what point do the Dees management just tell Goodwin just keep it simple at press conferences and say stuff like "we need more effort, we need to work harder" or generic platitudes. Fans may find it frustrating but he's basically out here airing dirty laundry and deflecting in pressers, his attempts to go into more detail have so far been cluster****s.

Then this week he's in a press conference he's asked "you've taken these blokes to the pinnacle, are you confident in your abilities and that you've still got the strategies to execute that?" and responds talking about how well credentialed he is, "it's not about me, it's about the club, it's about the team, it's about these players" and basically refuses to own any part in the current form slump and pumps up his own tyres for 30 seconds.

He stepped into the senior coaching role and for the bulk of his time has had a talented core group of Gawn, Petracca, Oliver, Viney, Brayshaw, May, Lever, Pickett, Salem and Fritsch. They've probably lacked a dominant tall forward, picked up Ben Brown

Ideal scenario to finish off the round is Ginnivan misses a shot to win the game after the siren, Ken Hinkley comes flying onto the ground flapping his arms and a punch on ensues, Ken delivers an RKO to Nick Watson, Sicily spear tackles Ken who proceeds to shit himself, Kochie comes flying up the race with the Cash Cow closely following behind swinging a pillow case full of coins. Pandemonium ensues and Gather Round is axed, never to return again.
