Question: if we pass on one of our later draft picks hoping for one of our NGAs to slide through to the rookie draft, and a bid comes in after that, can we then match that bid with our next pick (assuming bid is post pick 40)?

E.g. we haven’t delisted Hotton by draft night and decide to pass on one of our picks intending to give him another year. But on the night Peckett gets bid on late when we’d been planning to rookie him. Could we then match the bid knowing that we’d have to then delist Hotton to make space on the senior list?

You only have picks if you have empty list spots to fill with them. If we’ve passed a pick then it means we had an empty list spot, so we’d still have room to match a bid.

Saints 5th round pick will fall around 60 as it did with Scooner last year. Assuming a bid on Cole after our 3rd rounder it'll push us back to the 6th round or about pick 70 for matching Hoff or Peckett. Do we think there's better prospects at p70 than Hoff or Peckett. At that point its hard to gauge.
Starting to feel like Hofenhaus might be a pretty decent prospect.

Maybe for Peckett but Hoff looks like a steal with a late pick.

Hofmann would be great value in the 4th/5th rounds

I'm not big on Peckett. Had the sugar hit when he kicked 5 in the CTL but overall he's pretty average

There are a few medium forwards around late/rookie range. Cody Angove is a Higgins-type forward, Murphy a Membrey-type, Mentha a Betts-type. Josh Dolan more a pressure forward. Ned Bowman an SA prospect who has major x-factor

If we don't plan on taking HHK as our sandy rookie, I reckon one of those smalls would boost our depth late in the draft

Angove is the one I’d get. If we don’t nominate Peckett and he gets picked up elswhere its not a great look for our budding father-son program. Still yet to get a half decent prospect through to inspire others.

Since we weren't able to land a defender or a Ruckman during trade period, l think it's likely the knock on effect is that Elwood now find himself further down the order of priority and will be very very lucky to get listed by Stkilda.
I'm pretty comfortable with Cole as a 3rdRDP and Hoff as a 4thRDP, both at no cost.
Elwood is a piece that doesn't quite fit to optimise our spots.

That would be disappointing for the kid and supporters.

He has had a really good year with some outstanding games for Dandenong, he would be very unlucky considering we are screaming for clearance midfielders.

Then we have the clubs committment to take a Sandringham spud and possibly they leave out a worthy son of a Saints legend. If that doesnt typify St Kilda nothing does FFS
